You do realise that financially, universities are generally more in the shit than our clubs finances?

Yes, but it's more of a fun thought exercise really. I'd prefer this to going sponsorless if needs be but also wonder if money could be moved around to help the finances of each institution.

 

I.e. King Power reach agreement to help with funds for each university and those universities pass on some of that funding as 'sponsorship' for PSR purposes.

As long as the head of marketing or whoever is the one communicating with the manufacturer and signing off on the designs is still at the club, we'll keep getting served the same lukewarm shit no matter the brand

adidas are plenty capable of good designs, this retro one they released for Tigres UNAM in Mexico would have made an excellent away kit for us:

Maybe, but Adidas clearly have priorities on certain clubs and everybody else gets handed a template catalogue to choose from. I don't mind a template if they're done tastefully and so you definitely have a point about half of the problem coming from inside the club; but Macron and Umbro regularly put out quality and thoughtful kits for League 1/2 sides.

yeah, if we could get the same type of treatment from Umbro that Göztepe in Turkey get, I'd love that, their kits this season are brilliant. Unfortunately Umbro's rights in Europe are owned by Castore now which is a huge red flag (Turkey seems to be an independent market to some extent, maybe because they can still manufacture kits in the country?)

I had an interview at Puma in 2012, they said back then we were the latest they’ve ever had to sign off a kit and difficult to deal with

Kits these days are too expensive. I've gone for the training kit as I think it's smart and it's only (I say only) £40. That is what football kits should be, max £50 for a nice one. £70+ is just ridiculous.

Looks good, but Leicester Uni could not afford to sponsor an under 10's team!
