Feel a bit sorry for Bournemouth. Huijsen and Kerkez gone and looking like PSG won't give up on Zabarnyi. There is just no chance of any non cartel team competing long term as all your players just get poached. I always hated it when we had to sell our key players like Kante, Mahrez, Maddison etc over the years, and whilst I understand we needed to sell to keep reinvesting in the squad, the thought of losing 3 top young players in one window would be unbelievably sickening.

Would be nice for us to actually have the odd saleable asset in our squad these days!

Just read an article that we were interested in Kerkez back in January 2023 but went with Kristiansen instead.

Correction, @Ric Flair was interested in Kerkez. The club however will still never have heard of him despite him playing against us this season!

Kepa has gone to Arsenal (admittedly he was only on loan), Semenyo linked with Spurs as well. Core of their squad quite easily could not be there next season.

Liverpool quite easily spending £200m this summer, with Man City not far behind. United, Arsenal and Chelsea all looking to be spending similar as well.

Very little hope of any side ever growing to be anything other than fighting for that last CL space

Premier League contacts Chelsea over Boehly ticket website
Todd Boehly Chelsea

Todd Boehly's Chelsea won the Conference League last month, the first trophy since the £2.5bn takeover of the club from Roman Abramovich in 2022.

Nizaar Kinsella
BBC Sport football news reporter
The Premier League has written to Chelsea to seek clarification over the club's position with ticket re-sellers - amid controversy over Todd Boehly's involvement in Vivid Seats.

Boehly is both a director and investor in Vivid, described as an "unauthorised ticket seller" by the league, and also owns a 13% stake in Chelsea.

The website lists Chelsea matches on its platform, with some tickets last season at Stamford Bridge going for as much as £20,000. It is not allowed to operate in the United Kingdom, although is permissible overseas.

Chelsea Supporters' Trust asked the Premier League to "act and investigate" the situation which it believes is both a "breach of trust and "a clear conflict of interest" in an open letter issued in March.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters has explained it is discussing the matter with Chelsea in a situation described as "ongoing" at a Football Supporters' Association event last week.

The Supporters' Trust has also submitted evidence against the American company to the government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

Boehly, Chelsea and Vivid have been contacted for further comment.

Vivid CEO Stanley Chia is quoted by Sportico , externalas saying "economic and political volatility" has impacted the ticketing market as the company's share price fell by 61% this year.

Chelsea have recently pledged to take action on ticket touting, although without naming Vivid or other ticket re-sellers, which the CST letter said it was "encouraged" by.

There have been concerns about a "flat" atmosphere at Stamford Bridge, highlighted by previous manager Mauricio Pochettino and echoed by current head coach Enzo Maresca at times last season, amid trials of a singing section in the Conference League.

Chelsea are currently participating in the Club World Cup in the United States and next face ES Tunis in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

Might sound like sour grapes but hard to feel that 'sorry' for them. A historically small club with a very small fanbase. Like most smaller clubs, had to endure terrible times but then massively bought their way to success (going up the leagues) and timed it perfectly with the increased financial scrutiny, which has set them up for success. Extremely well run club now so they deserve to be where they are. But we are talking about 1 good season that they've had so with the way they have recruited, every player knows that Bournemouth are a stepping stone on to bigger things, and sometimes they would have just been a mid table PL club. A little bit different with us as we still had to do that when we're were actually successful.

Agree with the sentiment as the rules are now all about protecting the big clubs but a club with as limited potential with Bournemouth has to accept that this would be the reality even if there weren't the same rubbish financial rules.

Yeh I get Bournemouth are a small club but it's not just them, the same applies to any non cartel club. Anyone can have a decent season and we had a fair few, but nobody is able to really build a top team and push on for any length of time due to the rules and the big clubs just constantly poaching their players. It's always been the same to be fair and always will be. Even the English cartel can get their players poached by Real Madrid every so often. Football is a food chain I guess and we'll always be somewhere around the middle of it.

Every team does it but it's on different levels. "Food chain" is a good way of describing it. Your original post said about us losing Maddison, yet we took him from Norwich. Just like we took Justin from Luton.

It's only really Real Madrid and Barcelona that are in a position to not have their players poached because every player wants to play for those two clubs and no other club is bigger than them.

Actually I completely take back any sympathy on Bournemouth having just looked at their net spend over the past 3 seasons. Absolutely crazy for a team that has not had any success and is historically a lower league club. The only way you can justify that is with the expectation that you sell lots of players.

The most frustrating thing for us is that our net spend has always been relatively small even when we were finishing in the top half nosy seasons. And Tielemans the only player I would argue we might have been forced into paying over the odds salary wise. The rest is our utter incompetence with inflated wages and lack of commercial income.

But yes, there is still a massive problem with how it works. As you say, there is a food chain that will always exist which is fair enough but putting inside the incompetence of those running out club, we're a great advertisment for how building a team sensibly then having steady success is completely pointless with the current rule. Our relatively small transfer spend should have meant that we were never under pressure to sell more than 1 player a summer and keep spending sensibly. Think it's just going to take insane luck and commercial nous for a team to break up the cartel.

The latest Forest thing on social media is thinking they are a bigger club than Newcastle since a bid for Elanga got relegated.

I mean, there are delusions and there are delusions....

Aren't these the ones who have been involved in some dodgy deals with Forest, paying well over the odds for the keeper?

Yep, and they brought two off them last summer for big money. I don’t think it’d be an exaggeration to say that the dodgy deals specifically with Lyon is what is keeping Forest afloat, PSR wise. Could be big if so!

Brentford playing a risky game over Mbeumo as they continue to play hardball with Man U rejecting a 2nd offer of £62.5m.

They risk Man U moving on leaving them with a disgruntled player who only has 1yr left on his contract.
