A better gift for him and  the world would be a snipers red dot on his temple

As much as I think a lot of people would love that they would probably blame democrats or something and cause even more chaos . Let him pretend he has something he hasn’t and leave everyone alone to laugh at the sad old deluded c***

I'll be surprised if they do put troops on the ground. The US couldn't even defend their own bases or Thaad missile defence systems when they launched a surprise attack. Those guys would be sitting ducks. Even if they could get them there without being shot down or sunk - how do you keep them there and resupply them. All nearby bases destroyed/abandoned - and their aircraft carriers had to leave the combat zone almost as soon as they entered it. The world's largest carrier: the USS Gerald Ford is now out of action for over a year - due to a 'laundry fire'.

It's probably just a big bluff, but it's clear Iran have been preparing for this for 40 years and his bluffs aren't working. The American public are not ready to see the expression on their soldier's faces moments before death as a cheap drone flys into them. Drone's are modern IEDs that fly with cameras now.

Trump and his yes men have boxed themselves in. The most powerful side doesn't decide when a war ends, it's how long the weakest side can resist. You can't kick a hornet's nest, then just demand all the hornets go back into the hive when it doesn't go to plan.

Tbh maybe we need to see an American loss on the battlefield to take some gloss off their arrogance that they rule the world.

It's pretty equally humiliating either way.

Either it's vulnerable enough that an Iranian strike can put it out of action for this length of time, or crewed and equipped by those either so unprepared, incompetent or mutinous that a laundry fire would do the same.

Also quite strange whatever has happened to it.

Modern aircraft carriers are hugely difficult to sink or damage enough that they'd be in any danger.

I think they tried to sink some old carriers by using test munitions etc and it took literally months to sink one, they have so much compartmentalism inside.

It's all quite odd.

Surely the Russia-Ukraine conflict has shown that “boots on the ground troops” just get mowed down by cheap, easy to mass produce drones nowadays? Feels a bit like early WW1 where people hadn’t come to terms with modern technology yet so just got thousands of men mowed down by machine guns. I can’t imagine America sending troops into Iran will go for them, or how the US public will like sending 1,000s of Americans to their inevitable deaths.

This whole war has WW1 energy of tragically ridiculous, it was like they expected to just kill the leader on day 1, and then expected the regime to fall on day 2, and had no other plans if they didn’t. I would’ve thought 25 years of US foreign policy in the Middle East would’ve taught them it’s not that easy by now.

It’s almost like Trump’s stupid and surrounded himself with sycophants.

When you listen to Jim Mattis during his first term, you can see the restraint. Now you have lunatics like Hegseth running the show.

Maybe we can just give him a toy Nobel peace prize and he will f*** off and die quietly with his life complete

A big Nob Award would be more appropriate £17.95 from amazon.

Right.

I think the withdrawal is not out of any risk of losing the ship wholesale, but perhaps having damage done to it that would be much more expensive than what has already been done in terms of time and money.

But yes, it's all a bit odd when you look at it like that.

I am more under the impression the Carrier battle groups are incredibly powerful if you need air power, but if you have plenty of air bases in range why would you risk it?

Cruise to Kharg Island?

... it's almost as if pointless violence based on stupid ideas of nationalist or other superiority cause problems for pretty much all of our species apart from a select few, isn't it?

It’s ok though because he will have an airport named after him now as well. Not that the planes will be able to go any where but i am sure it will look nice for him.

can’t wait for the next person to come in and take his name of everything

Genuine question here; who decides the renaming of such things? Is it local government? Federal? Congress?

Still a bit weird that the main airport in Washington DC is now named for a well known but one of the most divisive Presidents ever in terms of legacy - and possibly the one that set the US on the path that led to Trump in the first place.

No idea who gets to decide just not sure why you would like to name everything after that crazy lunatic of a man. I’m sure once he is gone a lot of what has been changed will change straight away

Your post triggered me to listen to a classic Gil Scott-Heron track for the first time in years.

40+ years old, but still brilliant - and astonishingly relevant....

Can’t he just do it by executive order?

His actions have massively ramped up oil prices to be fair. Only idiots support his actions at this current moment.
