Where to start?

I don't use X, but I'm aware that your source is a far-right account pushed hard by Musk, and is reputedly run by a notorious Indian crypto-scammer, rather than a claimed "British Patriot"

I'm sad that such content reaches you, whether self-selecting, by algorithm, or by blind luck. I choose to avoid this. You've chosen differently

I'm sad that you took pleasure in sharing this on a public forum [complete with snarky (typical) dig at EU]. Immigration is a difficult subject; silly reductive views help nobody

I'm sad that your little episode shows so much about what is wrong with our world... but not in the way *you* think

Sharing this as you requested an explanation.

So nothing to do with content? You clearly know more about the account eventhough you're not an X user. I've explained that I was interested in the content which isn't false. It's being reported everywhere today on main stream sites so not an off-the-wall subject. As you know, it really isn't possible to control what reaches your screen, especially on X. It was trending in the top 30, I don't follow any political accounts, not that I need to explain that. So your sadness is from me sharing it from the wrong site? Fair enough, I can't help you with that.

I'm of the opinion that the main difference between Putin and Trump is that Putin realises that he isn't popular in nations he attacks.

How did the time traveller they sent back to save the world miss his shot 😕

That's the logical position to take, but speaking personally, thanatophobia is something I struggle with a very great deal and its difficult to shake off. Don't even know how I can - the idea that one moment I'm here, then the next - what, exactly? - scares me.

The topic itself is pretty fraught and IMO there's no real right position to take. Case by case basis seems the best of some very difficult options.

Yes different for each person. My personal belief is that once I have passed it will be exactly as it was before I was born, and I don’t remember that being scary.

I personally think it's eternity that's scary.

Being dead forever, that's it - scary.

Being immortal - also scary.

I think if you could be hibernated for 50-100 years then wake up for 20-30... Best of both worlds

Like woody Allen said, infinity lasts a very long time, especially towards the end.

Big topic. Tricky one, too.

For me I think it's the idea of oblivion that's the scary part, rather than the thing itself, if that makes any sense.

Perhaps it's one more suited to the Depression thread on here, though.

I think about death every day. Some days I think it’ll be ok, no scarier than before, but then I think of my friends and family, playing board games together or watching football together or having a nice meal together or a pint in the pub together. Or I read a good book on my own, or I feel the wind against my skin, hear the birds chirping, hear the sea lapping up against the shore and see the beauty of hills and mountains and grass and plants and bogs and marsh and waterfalls.

Then the feeling of never getting to experience any of that again fills me with utter dread deep in my stomach.

Yep. That is the most accurate summation I can think of.

But - it's not as if you'll know you're not experiencing it.

Death is nothing to be scared of.

Dying might be, it can sometimes be uncomfortable and/or painful - but there's nothing to be scared of about the state of being dead.

Predictably there's zero evidence of 'family voting' as pushed by farage and co.

The volunteers bussed in by Reform to make the claims were the only people that claimed to see anything (despite not being in voting rooms) but were unable to give any timings of wromgdoing or descriptions of any supposed offenders. Utter crock of nonsense by reform, GB news et al.

I can sympathise. I suppose spending time with dread over something nobody can do anything about is the ultimate waste of the time you have. I say this as someone prone to catastrophizing. Although that is very debilitating I do try and confine it over things I can influence but know deep down I have no right to control.

A world without Root, Arcs, Star Wars Rebellion, Wingspan and Flamme Rouge is unbearable.

But they all still believe it, and it's all a big conspiracy against Reform.

And this is the problem that has been apparent for years and is only getting worse.

Perception, rather than fact, being a pivotal driver of political decision making.

Especially if I can’t pick the Riverfolk otters in Root. Bartering and offering diplomatic promises to your friends only to later reneg on them and stab them in the back in a board game is truly one of life’s great pleasures

Sounds very trump like,  sore losers, so claim it was rigged.

A taster that it may become a trump like government here if these lot get elected. Is farage hoping to become trumps mini me?

Surely everyone can see he's abusing power for vanity reasons. His own award and now this. The people in office must all all be thick as pig poo?! His 'Secretary for war' is a complete moron, so it's possible they all.are

Remember how we all laughed at how North Korea used to claim that Kim jong’s father took up golf and got 18 holes in one and that he invented physics and fought lions and other BS . Doesn’t seem so weird now does it ?

Love Carcassonne. Unfortunately I bought so many of the mini expansions that it all became a bit muddled and massive lol

Carcassone is an old favourite of mine too. Don’t play it as often these days, but everytime I do, it’s always a “I forgot how good this game is, why did we stop playing it so regularly?” reaction.

Some of my favourites are Cosmic Encounter, Dune (the original one not Dune Imperium), Nemesis, Unmatched, Dominion, Arcs, Root, Libertalia, Blood on the Clocktower, The Resistance, Survive: Escape from Atlantis, Stationfall, Captain Sonar as well as a good Texas Hold ‘Em night.

Used to love Diplomacy back in the day too, but it’s so hard getting 7 people together for a full weekend game these days.
