Probably one one the best winger pairing in the league this season, without adding in Monga.

Who might be better than both.

Early days, if he does half as well as Fatawu and Mavididi the last season we were in the championship he had a brilliant season.

Bidding wars don't really exist in football. Each interested club will have their own set valuation of what they think the player is worth and they'll simply move on to their next target if that is exceeded.

30 million and be done with it! Would be a cheat code in the champ but we all knew he wouldn’t stay, great player and only will get better. Sell and get a replacement in ASAP!

but neither club goes in with their biggest offer first and will of course increase their bid up to their limit should their first offer not be enough- for whatever reason. = “ bidding war”

But clubs don't directly bid against each other like in an auction. Football just doesn't work like that. You either make an acceptable offer or you don't.

This seems to ignore the notion of supply and demand.

If there’s interest from more than one party in a player, the selling club has more scope in what they deem to be an acceptable offer… unless there’s a release clause, in which case you take the player hostage and force them to sign a new contract.

well theyll both me making pretty pennies from selling Eze and Simons,

should be looking at least £30mil for BEK

I would be happy with £30m for BEK personally, Finn Azaz should be a player we look at to replace him.

If boro sell hackney for 20m like reported, I doubt they will sell him as well

Potentially, I think someone like Boro would really struggle to turn down a fee of around £15m despite the sale of Hackney.

No one mentioned auction.. and yes it works like that. Clubs increase their offers all the time. Just off the top of my head, Tielemans.. it happened with him because man United and spurs  and Arsenal were interested in  him at the time and this is what the merc said about it…

Leicester City will likely have to win a bidding war to land midfielder Youri Tielemans on a permanent deal this summer.  &nbsp

However, it now seems as though that will count little in City's favour with Sky Sports reporting Monaco are hoping for a bidding war over the Belgian midfielder, and even their desire to sign Silva on a permanent deal won't interfere.

It says Monaco were 'hoping for a bidding war'. You've no evidence that one actually happened. Man U and Arsenal may have enquired about Tielemans but there's no evidence in there that either ever made an official bid.

All you have to do is type in bidding war into Google and you’ll see endless articles mentioning them happening. So that’s evidence. But if you’re going to make silly comments like I have no evidence they happen then I can say just as a silly comment and say prove they don’t?

A bidding war doesn't really happen in the conventional sense of bidding something up to buy. But when there's multiple interested parties the selling/holding club can refuse higher offers due to supply/demand. But once an offer is accepted that's pretty much it. The other clubs don't then throw in another 5 or 10mill and bid up. They match the offer to the club and try to better the offer to the player.

It's just semantics really. Effectively there's no bidding war but the price is expected to escalate due to supply/demand.

Surely the player will have an idea where he prefers to go, the agent will tip off the club and the club will low ball the offer, if we say no the player will throw a Mardy, then the club will up it a little and we'll accept, even if its slightly lower

If reports are correct that his release clause is around £30m, I can see this dragging on all summer as clubs repeatedly offer less and we keep digging our heels in.
