Popular Post STUHILL Posted 8 July 2025 Popular Post Posted 8 July 2025 Sometimes, I think fans just want a foreign Manager. His record is nothing to shout about and still so much unknown. I can see people are spinning this into a lot of positives though, but I don't think this is a particularly inspired appointment. I will support him, but there are a few red flags for me. Let's all hope something clicks with him and the squad. 5

Beat us too didn’t he on the last Championship season. He’s capable of a lot more I think, and with a decent squad of players could get them hitting the ground running fairly quickly. What about with a squad of prima Donna’s?

STUHILL Posted 8 July 2025 Posted 8 July 2025 Seems to be a way to keep the fan base happy. Foreign name and the less we know about a Manager and the less they have done = Get him in! 1

Let's all hope something clicks with him and the squad. I might have this wrong (particularly with Rohl) but Rohl and Cifuentes didn't seem to really build on their first season form. Rohl perhaps has more excuses. QPR last season (from memory) started poorly, were in hot form maybe two thirds of the way through the season and then fell apart again? You're right though if this was Martin Clements and not some cool foreign name it'd be all "meh" at best. That and we're petrified of a manager that has ever failed. 1
dooflip Posted 8 July 2025 Posted 8 July 2025 If there’s one thing to celebrate, it’s that the names are getting a bit more interesting that Gary O’Neill and Chris fkin wilder! 1

Anything other than that is a massive positive in my book. Things are literally so bad, that marti cifuentes, a manager we wouldn’t have pissed on if he was on fire a year ago, seems like a step in the right direction.

They’re like Sheffield Wednesday a turd and he’s got more out of them than they’re probably worth. With a better team at his disposal I think he’d be a decent appointment. 6

Bet you would rather we went for Wilder or GON both failed really... Cif is a bit of an unknown same with Rohl both never managed in the Prem and the former two didn't work out well.

I think there are alot of red flags with all of the names we are being linked with and I wish we cast the net much wider than we do in our searches. For me personally its just been about bringing someone in who can make the most of the academy and focus attention there. I'm not that bothered about going back up instantly if we are trying to build sustainably and you can see a longer term vision. He may not be that but hes closer to it than the short term options. I do think its a risk though, especially if we have to go back up this season because of the financial mess, then you'd have to say Dyche would be the one, its hard to see him failing in the championship with this squad, despite the worries I would have about the longer term sustainability point. If theres one positive thing he will hopefully get time, I think Wilder and O'Neil would of, unfairly, been on the back foot with the fan base early much like Cooper.

Merchant_Banker Posted 8 July 2025 Posted 8 July 2025 We aren't going to get a manager with a succession of promotions and/or trophies who has never failed. Those managers won't come too Leicester at the moment. We have a choice of average managers who have done ok or we take a risk on a manager who has the potential to be amazing or a total disaster.

Guest Posted 8 July 2025 Posted 8 July 2025 I think it's brilliant seeing some people talk about him like he's some obscure hipster choice that no normal person could ever realistically have heard of when not only has he spent the last two seasons in this country and the division we are now in, he's also managed against us twice

In order of the ones strongly linked I'd go for Rohl, Cif, GON, Dyche, Wilder. Rohl and Cifuentes id say are intriguing because less is known about them. O'Neil and Dyche meh. Wilder no. However I'm just more open minded to believe that just because someone had a below average experience somewhere else doesn't mean they're guaranteed to stink the place out here.

QPR another club that is a bit of a mess so he's done a great job overall there. Saving them from relegation in the way he did in the first season was super impressive, especially the way they played. 1
HitchinFox Posted 8 July 2025 Posted 8 July 2025 Röhl > Cifuentes > Carrick > GoN > Wilder > Douche > RvN In my humble opinion, out of all the ones that have "officially" been options, Marti is nowhere near the worst one.
