Chesterfield forum seem to unanimously agree Braybrooke is class and too good for the level. They also however seem to think he isn’t gonna stick around here.

I’ve wanted to watch more of him, and saw the last few games. He’s looked tidy and can see room for improvement. I wouldn’t say he looked class though. From what I saw he doesn’t affect the game enough. But out of a lot of our academy boys he’s the one I’m rooting for the most. Hope he can kick on for us next season.

Not sure what position he was asked to play last night.  Seemed to by a hybrid of 6 and 8. 

maybe the physical nature of notts approach to him in the first leg meant that the chesterfield coach was nervous of him sitting and patrolling

He looked like he was told to stick in the centre but most of chesterfield’s play was down the wings or over the top and made it difficult for him to get the ball. He spent a lot of time calling for it but it rarely came.

We are going to need to hold on to the likes of Braybrooke and Alves, as Page/Monga/Motsi are all going to be taken from us for a pittance.

Worse things about this is we had a decent crop of youngsters and all we need to do it put the right players and manager around them.

 

We could have bloodied Nelson, Braybrooke, Alves et al in the PL and save ourselves splashing 27m and probably the best part of 250k a week on Ayew, BCDR and Skipp and Okoli.

 

Just we would have gone down maybe with less points but they would have been ready for the championship but also saved us around 40m.

Like I’ve said before, we’ve lost plenty of games over the past 3 seasons. Countless opportunities to give players 30 minutes when the game has already been lost

Always have to bear in mind with Alves and Braybrooke that they both suffered the kind of injuries that have ended careers in decades past.

 

Getting back to the level they were at while developing the kind of in-game knowhow in men's football is always going to take time when coming back from setbacks like that.

 

The fact that we're probably going to be at Braybrooke's level next season is one of the biggest unintended upsides of our whole disastrous fall from grace. He could come of age as we restart our rise, same with Alves if he can stay fit, and then we have Cartwright coming back who's had a season in a tough league, Monga and Page still here (for now), Aluko hopefully being the first-choice RB, Otchere, Hutchinson, Briggs, Carr, Neale, Gray, Ali plus probably a few more begging for game time/a loan move to test them, I think we could - if we're lucky and smart - build something phoenix-like from the ashes of this ruinous period in our history.

 

I'm sceptical, based on the people making the decisions, but I'm always hopeful.

Maybe it’s because he’s a CB but Tom Wilson-Brown has a good season (few injuries) at Swindon and gone unheralded. 21 so he’ll be ready physically you’d think.

Needs to be looked at, shame he lost momentum due to injuries.

 

Everyone needs to be given a chance, just hope we can offload the likes of Vestergaard, Faes and Okoli.

If he's deemed good enough, he'll be one that stays. Not a chance we are accepting £250,000 for him. Isn't worth it to us even in our predicament.

Competent clubs would review this and stop sending players 6 hours away.

I do imagine he will stay.

 

But the values thing is difficult as many of these like Braybrooke, Nelson, Stolarcryk have a year left so the value we might want won’t be what someone will pay. If the player doesn’t plan to sign an extension, what do we do? 

 

But then again, we do let players leave on frees rather than taking the chance to get a fee when we can so…..

 

I also suspect Braybrooke is one we could sort out an extension for if we were capable as a club, of doing anything!

Can't really be called stiffing is when it comes to paying a fee for Wout Faes.

 

We should probably be paying them! (And likely will end up paying them to cover some of his wages)

Contract up next summer so not inconceivable he forces our hand but i'd hope he views our decline as the opportunity he's not yet had to finally make it here.

Yeah I think in recent times we should have done way more with the academy lads but you can almost be at a higher level than what you're producing at times. 

 

There's no excuses now. We are reliant on it. We're quite fortunate that a lot of them are at a level where I think they'll do well for us next season.
