We need to go straight back up. Even if we come straight back down. We may have to that several times purely for financial reason. The money is in the premier league, and the money is what we need.

Financially you might be correct, however going up and proceeding to make a half arsed effort at recruitment like last time makes it a futile achievement. We aren't ready squad wise to stay in the PL. It's a closed shop!

I really dont think thats happening from what we've seen so far. Sunderland are making a fair start but I still see the 3 promoted sides coming straight back down. Its just how it is im afraid the the gap between the the Prem and Championship is just too much both in footballing terms and financially.

Always possible but they all look to actually have some fight about them. Just means there’s a chance. Hard to say until the early excitement of being promoted wares off

With respect the last time he played he was a car crash and looks like giving away a pen every 10 mins, he looks too casual and almost seems more concerned on how he looks when he's playing than doing the basics right.

That said, everyone can have a bad game and he needs a run of two or 3 games to see what he's made of, not again Cov as they have shown already they can be pretty ruthless in the final 3rd.

Yeah, I do agree he was crap at Huddersfield. But then again, based on Oxford one of them needs dropping and I feel like an Okoli / Nelson partnership could be a disaster if neither is ready to lead without an experienced head alongside them.

For that role it's gotta be Jannik, Faes is on paper the best defender at the club but he's just as capable of shitting the bed as anyone else, and I don't particularly want him providing either of them mentorship given he's always the first to point fingers and absolve himself of any blame when we concede.

Sidepoint, but will be interesting to see what happens when Souttar returns. It should be around the point of us entering the FA Cup so if he's up to speed he could have a chance to break in through our squad for that.

It was also particularly dull due to certain players that didn’t seem bothered and who didn’t seem to want to fight for the cause. It’s not only the recruitment it’s also finally get rid of some of the weasels that are still here draining the life blood out of the club. In the days of Pearson, Walsh and Shakespeare, not only was a players talent looked into but seemingly his motivation and attitude also. This aspect of recruitment has gone badly ary for a few years now.

Second half against Huddersfield he was absolutely fine, I also think he'd look better alongside Vestergaard who seems to be more of an organiser than Faes

I agree he needs to be tried with him.

It’s a case of going up, not spending much, coming back down, rinse and repeat mate. The only way we will ever get back to being an established premier league side again, and it will take a long time.

I think there’s to much money involved now to do that, the only way is to get up and stay up be that 17th for 1 or 2 years to balance further.

Dropping and having to keep selling potential £30-40m players for £10-20m & then picking up frees, loans and £3m players you end up with a championship club & finances.

even with points deduction?? I suspect you are right, but I'm torn between stabilising for a year in the championship and getting the opportunity of going for immediate return to PL......my heart wants us up, but my head says wait, develop the kids, build a solid spine and let Marti install his blueprint....

I'm exactly the same as you but I think the problem might be that the league is so bad, we might end up in the play-offs through just having a couple of players that are better than anyone else's.

That's a ridiculous comment. You won't get anywhere. It'll be 1 step forward 2 back!

You either go up and spend massive amounts to try to break the cycle or you dont go up first time of asking and actually rebuild across 2-3 seasons!

It's hard to see what's the right approach, but I'm inclined to agree with this.  If we can couple that approach with having a few from the academy with the ability to step up and give it a go in the Prem then it might make the difference,

The timing in that respect might be right next season, if we could manage to go up this season and, at the same time, progress a few of our most promising youngsters.

The two things I was led to believe was he will bring youngsters through and we would press in an attacking sense.

I'm not convinced I've seen either.

He's dropping far too many points and his tactical direction seems to be given it to Abdul and pray for magic.

Relentless passing in our own defensive third is not the thing that will get the fans behind the team.

Still not convinced. Same shit players playing the same shit way with the same shit tactics.

No support for the actual good players once they get the ball

It’s no different to Ruud and Cooper without the excuse of playing against world class players.

Thomas is useless and unable to pass the ball or even move forward, Soumare is thick as mince and Ayew stinks out anything positive.
