Who's "the kids" you're referring to? Cus I'd consider 2 of them to be the one's from our academy that people want us to play.

If you're insinuating that "the kids" aren't very good then you'd expect to sell them for peanuts anyway.

Monga, Page, Aluko, Nelson, Evans, Alves.

A decent goal scorer for £20m in this market? Dream on!

More than possible in this division if we drop our obsession with experience in England and go for younger players.

Think we've got the better end of the deal there. Hoping for £25m+ was always a scam Chelsea idea, but even they're not dumb enough to fall into the trap.

He can now go and make some defensive blunders in the boring pass it around at the back Potter side that flirts with relegation.

Let's not forget that he's been passed up by Bournemouth, Brentford, Chelsea and seemingly everyone else who were actually in for a goalkeeper - West Ham only going for him because of the goalkeeping coach.

That makes sense, I'd agree with the sentiments

I'd say Monga, Nelson and Alves are ready to play a part. Especially Nelson who I think is likely our best CB, definitely the one with the highest ceiling.

Not seen any of Page or Aluko so can't comment. Evans still looks very raw to me. I'd like to keep those 3 involved, but as squad players and getting minutes in cup games or games where we're holding a comfortable lead. Which you'd hope there'd be a few of for us at this level.

Heard the add-ons are:

£1 million once he single-handedly ends the war in Ukraine

+

£1 million when he develops software to eradicate the use of “Wet Spam” on rival forums.

Both seem realistic I think.

I've seen people make comments suggesting they're ok selling full back/centre back options because Aluko is "Proven to be good enough" to be 2nd choice full back and 3rd choice centre half....The bloke hasn't kicked a ball in professional football.

Wout Faes is the best centre half in the League, I've never seen a player find it so easy as he did two years ago. I just don't get the logic in risking the Club future on guys who haven't kicked a ball in professional football, let alone such a high standard as the Championship. When we've genuinely got the best players in the league available to us.

If these "Kids" are good enough, then we can tie them down after Promotion.

If these "Kids" aren't good enough, we're gonna lose our best players and simply decline into Championship mediocrity.

For what it's worth I'm extremely excited about watching what these youngsters can do this Season, I think they will add real competition and add a lot of energy to the squad. But they've done nothing to suggest they can displace the best players in this league out of the team.

we’re in the championship, not the prem. How many championship clubs are spending more than 20m on a striker?

This is the way you have to play football

And no goals are conceded with keepers fannying around with the ball, but most goals are scored with a simple 10 yard pass from the keeper to the right back. Apparently

It's not a bad price for him but it's a sign of how things have gone for us that we are selling to a club like West Ham and not a Man U or City.

Not sure if West Ham is the right move for Mads but best of luck to him. Deserves better than us at the moment.

West Ham have got themselves a bargain- he'll be one of the best keepers in the country for the next decade. Yet another result of our board-level inadequacies.

I'm not as certain as some that Jakub is good enough for where we want to be just yet- particularly in terms of his distribution. Wouldn't be comfortable having Begovic as number 1 for an extended period if he gets injured either.

You are even more of a contrarian then me, fair play :P

This is the way the game has evolved, lure them in, disrupt their shape and take advantage.

More of a chess game than you may like, but it's fairly standard these days.

Ah well both Banks and Shilts went to Stoke. Hopefully Jakub will be our new Wallington

Far from it.

As I said yesterday, the game have changed (for the worst) but thankfully football is ‘changing’ again.

I’ve always completely refuted the idea that just because 85% of teams play one way, it means the others have to conform

He'll be at Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd or PSG in a season or two. Still hurts that we're losing him to West Ham though. It wasn't that long ago that competing with them for signings was considered as beneath us.

Best of luck, Mads but don't stay there too long, you will regret it.
