Nobody cares where he lives, what we care about is his poor attitude  and behaviour. Refusing to celebrate goals or acknowledge fans and basically playing like he couldn't give a toss. Hence why Marti was compelled to play Skipp and Soumare, even though Winks is much better then both. Once Ruud left, he should've seen this as a clean slate and try to impress Marti, instead he's decided to keep his feud going, this time against the club and fans.

I’m not even sure what he has to be pissed off about.  It was between him and Ruud so why he still has a burr up his ass I don’t know. I hope Marti has the jam to keep him on the bench until his attitude improves.. I was hoping he would leave in this window

probably the way he’s been vilified and treated by the fans…

The more I've thought about it the more my view is that it was handled extremely poorly by the club i.e RVN in charge it's likely to have been totally ****ed up and he was probably going through some personal difficulties and wanted / needed support and understanding from the club that wasn't there.

It's unfortunate when these things leak out without the full details and also Winks seems to have taken the exit of Maresca badly but then why wouldn't you when we bring in a total cock like Cooper and then god forbid RVN.

Astounding isn't it? Couple of rumours about stuff and all of a sudden he's public enemy #1 and everyone is insulting him. Its actually cringe.

Its pathetic to be honest.  He might be well paid, but he is still just a bloke trying to balance work and home life like everyone else.

I agree. Faes is vilified because he's been shit on the pitch, but came on v Sheff Weds and scored the winner, really busting a gut to prove the booers wrong. That's really the only approach that Winks can take to get the fans back on side . Professional pride in performing to his best, even if it's only to prove a point or secure a Jan move to somewhere within a 10m radius of his current house.

Has he been vilified by the vans? I'm not so sure. Sure, he's become a talking point on here but he's hardly got the Wout treatment during games has he.

I have no objections to him not wanting to stay at the training ground, but I'm not sure why he is continuing his sulk under a new management team. Surely best for him if he knuckles down to try and rebuild his relationship.

Just the one I think ….

Regardless of what happened between him and RVN and whether he feels he's been treated badly by the club or the fans etc, he needs to sort his head out and play. He hasn't got a move this summer so he's likely to leave for free next summer but between now and then he's needs to sort himself out. We don't see him in training or in and around the dressing room etc, we only see the way he is on the pitch and his body language etc but the fact Marti hasn't been starting him shows there is clearly an issue. I'm just glad we've strengthened the midfield with Ramsey and James so we don't have to be so reliant on Winks. He is still our best midfielder but only if his head is in it. I'd genuinely rather start Soumare and/or Skipp than a mardy Winks

If he wants to come back into the side, look like he wants to be here and help the team effort then great. Personally, I’d have liked to see him sold, from the point of view he has one year left but of course it has to be balanced with ensuring we have a squad for this season.

Fans are entitled to question him though. There’s a few things, Copenhagen sign, posting on SM whilst we are being relegated. He could have been doing what he wanted but posting like this was tone deaf at the very least. And he is quite visibly looking miserable this season. These are things fans are imagining.

As for the living away. That in itself is ok. But please don’t compare Winks to the likes of Schmeichel, Simpson and Pearson. They were much better characters and pros. If, and this is where none of us know, he was asked to stay because his performance in training was poor, being late etc, the club was entitled to expect better. If it was purely RVN throwing his weight around and Winks was acting professionally all along, then yes, you’d understand why he was pissed off. But the things we visibly see about Winks, don’t exactly suggest he is an ultimate professional. At the very least, he hasn’t helped himself which given how unpopular RVN was, it wouldn’t have taken much for the support to fall well and truly with Winks.

It’s hard to know but I do think it’s fair to make the point of the money these guys are on and that goes for any top flight footballers acting out. People on normal salaries have to do things that take them away from family to provide for the family without the financial luxury footballers have. My dad when we were kids went to work in London and was away from Sunday night to Friday night and in the end we relocated from Leicestershire to the home

counties so he could come home every day.

I’m a dad myself and I love seeing my daughter every day. However, if I was required to stay away a night a week as part of my job, I’d do it.

Would that be the same Danny Simpson who was convicted for domestic assault?

In the context of this discussion I don’t know why we can’t compare, although I take your point that we don’t know what Winks’s application in training was like and what the precise circumstances were

The point of him staying at the training ground was his performances weren't great and neither was the teams, so anything to improve that was worth trying. I'm so conflicted, whilst i want the best players playing (and he is that), his attitude on that was beyond poor, and to carry it on into this season, just stinks. I'd fully support Marti if Winks was frozen out for the season.

For all those that say "but he had a newborn". The baby was 4 weeks old, it was 1 night a week, his wife would have had the best of care around her, it really wasn't a big deal, unless you're as much of a baby as the baby, plus the instagram photos were hugely disrespectful

The reason that Winks ‘has a bad attitude’ is that his manager asked something unreasonable of him and he refused and the club backed the manager in the situation. RVN might be gone now but the bad feelings dont go away.

I also say its unreasonable because Winks was singled out for where he lived, if the whole squad was asked then its not unreasonable but only certain people were picked out.

Most people on here have had issues at work with managers and had the company backing the manager, you know how crap that feels and its the same here.

I don't think you can class what was asked of him as unreasonable

His performances were crap, a manager will do what's necessary to get the best out of a team by managing the individuals, for Winks, he was asked to stay 1 night at seagrave before the game, thats not unreasonable

Maybe not unreasonable to be asked, but it's also not unreasonable for him to say no really

But it is if his performances are not up to scratch. If he was playing out of his skin, then fine, but he wasnt
