To be fair, out of him and Skipp, he seems to be the only one who can progress the ball up the pitch.

 

His problem is his positioning and tracking runners are terrible.

Saying he is better than Skipp is like saying compost is better than slurry.

Skipp and Soumare are both dreadful, but Soumare is more of a liability. He switches off, frequently wanders out of position and loses his man. Skipp is clearly limited and very low on confidence but I feel like alongside Winks he might not be a disaster if he's just asked to sit and protect the defence. Unfortunately we don't have too many other options as Page looks more like a 10 at the moment than someone who can play as a 6 next to Winks. We desperately need some reinforcements in that area.

Do we really need two 6s in this league though Winks could play the 6 and Bilal and Page in front of him

I think people forget how poor we were under Enzo at the start, we scrapped by Coventry, Huddersfield, Rotherham and Cardiff early on.

Interesting how high the commentator was on us last night after the game. Made a point a few times saying he thought both sides would go on to have very good seasons. Not quite what he saw in us?

In the championship you only need four quality players plus a few younger players who are going to shine doesn't matter about the rest but what we lack is a quality striker

Yes I think we do. Cifuentes likes his teams to press high, which we've seen some evidence of in the first couple of games. Most of our centre backs are slow so we need some kind of screening midfielder otherwise we will be constantly at risk from counter attacks. Winks at the base of midfield is fine when we've got the ball but when we don't have it he needs someone alongside him.

Need to start quicker, to slow, and labored at times, move the ball quicker, get Daka to start, and have some pace up front, hopefully better then yesterday, i know we are only two games in, we need to get better.

Above all you need attitude. It doesn’t matter what ability you have at any level, if you’ve not got a good attitude, then you’re in trouble .

That should be a job that Page and Bilal could handle tbf

Problem with this is, Daka is ****ing hopeless. He also doesn’t have an ounce of aggression in him. He will get bullied at places like Preston. Unfortunately, Ayew has to start, because he won’t get bullied and can link the play. It’s all well and good being fast and be able to press, but we would end up being more of a threat to ourselves in possession with Daka playing, because he loses every header, every 50/50 duel, and remarkably because of his pace, every foot race. Daka really can only come on later into the match when the opposition grow tired, that’s when he had an impact.
