Kermo, decent tho he was, did an abhorrent piss around penalty in an important moment. Maddison just took a shit penalty, no stupid run up or anything, it was just stupid.

 

Gets too much flak for it imo. Hugely costly but he didnt intentionally miss or do something rogue, these things happen

Sorry @Bert misread the previous post. His was saved vs Liverpool by David James and he was bombed out not long after. The Sheffield Wednesday miss and double touch was a few days after this.

Think that might have been the game where Joachim scored just about the best goal I've ever seen live. What a player he was as a youngster.

On the positive end I miss a Christian Fuchs shootout penalty. Possibly the most cultured man off the pitch turned into peak Sean Dyche from 12 yards.

Yann Kermorgant’s is only second to Robert Pires in being the worst peno I’ve ever seen. Deserves pelters for life.

A few years back, Steve Howard did an interview for Radio Leicester (or some podcast).   He came across really well, and talked about his time at the City.

 

Asked about that game at Cardiff ... after the match, back in the changing room, he said you'd have expected Kermogant to be really apologetic having let everyone down.

But he just wasn't bothered at all.   He didn't say anything.   He just got his mobile phone out.   Totally disinterested.

 

I think Steve Howard said he came so close to decking him at that moment.

They dominated us for 90 percent of the game and without Iversen we would of been battered. I think even at 3-1 they would of come back. It was destiny we were relegated that season

There's several other reasons why we went down. That penalty miss was a reason, not the reason. Can think of many others involving other players who were worse than him that caused our relegation.

It was the key game in the run-in and we failed to win it because of his penalty. Failing to win that key game is ultimately what sent us down, rather than finishing 2 points clear of the drop

All ifs and buts who's to say just because we win that it guarantees survival? Not so sure it does. 

 

Failing to win that key game wasn't the only reason we dropped. There were plenty of other moments in the season we failed to do that.
