Yeah, I guess I'm just curious to know how much of that is actually up-front. Obviously I'm pretty cynical when it comes to Rudkin

£12m is the upfront fee - likely to be £4m each year

Then there is add-ons on top of that as well

Great deal for both.

I think £12m is slightly over the odds for McAteer, unless McKenna can find a way to get a better tune out of him than we have. That's not to say that he won't strengthen the current Ipswich squad – he really does.

So on the face of it, the move works for both.

Good luck, Kasey! One of our own.

You'd imagine its a straight split of £4m.

You would. In which case, it's a decent deal, not a great one. There's no guarantee he'll see out his contract at Ipswich. I just thought the wording was interesting.

I'm nitpicking, but £8m up from front with £2m for year 2 and a further £2m for year 3 would be a great deal. This looks good, but not great IMHO.

We’re all pleased with this deal but he’s the one most likely to be back in the Prem next year unless we start bringing in some starting eleven players

What relevance does that have to us?

Might be seen as good business but sad to see Kasey go. From ball boy to first team player who played his part in the title win under Enzo. He loves the club and and always gives 100%. I'm sure he and his family would have been a little hurt reading all the 'get rid' comments on social media.

Just hope the club can pull out a decent signing before the end of the window. This one will hurt if all it does is help balance the books and pay the big wages of others we would sooner see out the door.

McAteer is hard working, fit as a fiddle, tactically aware and can play, can finish, can create

An Ipswich fan on TWTD. lol

Oh you poor thing.

I actually think he might be better as a center forward than a winger, he can score goals and has a bit of pace, be interesting to see how they use him if  it goes through.

Even if I have to stomach BCR as our 4th choice winger for the season, 12 million plus add ons for an average player is such a good deal.

St and Cm are still the priorities. BCR/Wanya/Thomas can cover our 4th choice average winger.

We might not receive the subsequent add-ons if he were to no longer play for Ipswich. All depends on the structure of the deal and what's guaranteed and what's conditional I guess.

Stupendous deal for us. Build Rudkin the statue.

I like McAteer, his effort and application can never be questioned and he seems a likeable chap, but as a footballer he is incredibly limited. Aside from his work rate, energy and occasional ability to pop up in goalscoring positions, I can't think of anything in his game which is even championship standard. But maybe McKenna can make it work in a particular system. The biggest concern with losing a player like McAteer is just for losing a good squad "glue" guy. As a footballer we can do much better.

You know they still have to pay us if he doesn't see out his contract right?

🎵 Rudkin you're the one 🎵

12m is absolute daylight robbery

Nice guy, like his love for the club and he cares. He's a decent player but not a top end Champ player imo. 5m was about his worth in this market. 12m is mint money

No but we get the 12mill regardless, which means we're halfway to being able to buy another Skipp!

Rejoice!

More than likely, but not definitely
