The problem is that whichever XI is selected by Marti, it will contain a minimum of 3 or 4 players who fans don't want here and are only being selected because the other options are even more tragic.

Genuinely puzzled by some of our fan base talking about what we need this season for promotion. Comments like Okoli is not Premier League, so he shouldn't be here.

We are miles away from promotion. What's more, I don't want to go anywhere near promotion. They must be post 2016 happy clappers. We need a few seasons building a stronger base, like Sunderland have done, and possibly West Brom. are doing. Can you imagine the carnage if this side went up? We'd be straight back down, faster than a McAteer transfer.

We're also likely to get a points deduction. With this squad, and the potential punishment, the goal this season should be, as good a season as we can, establishing ourselves in the Championship. I'd say Okoli is good enough for the Championship, and that's good enough for now.

Where we are now, just outside the play-offs would be perfect. We need to give the youngsters time, we need to clear out the dead wood. I'd say we need three seasons in the Championship, then let's see where we are. At this stage, the P word is just divisive, and delusional. Time for a reality check for some, who I'm sure would enjoy the campaign a whole lot more if they took one.

I think the Sunderland comparison is valid. They had a relatively young squad and improved over time, although they only returned to the PL after a change of manager

I don't want us to get promoted I want to see Marti have a few seasons to make his own team then get promoted

Else he's just gonna get the sack with players that keep getting the manager sacked..

And it's getting boring 😴

Best suggestion yet - but only cos it doesn't contain Soumaré!

Play Ricardo in MF with Winks and Hamza at RB, that's what I'd do.

Worth a try, but I suspect Ricardo could only cope with 45 mins in midfield in a competitive game against a lively opposition.  I could see him coming on 2nd half and his quality being instrumental in turning the game in our favour.

Problem is if we don’t go up this year, every year the gap grows and becomes more and more difficult. We don’t go up this year we will be in the Championship 10-20 years maybe with a drop lower, which I suppose is okay if you are happy in the lower leagues, I’m not bothered but that’s the reality

I’d play Monga and Page again purely for confidence reasons. A few consecutive starts will help them learn a lot and adapt quicker, vs stop-start for the rest of the season. Alves to come on for either of them.

Ricardo or Hamza to midfield with Winks, the other can play RB.

CM is where we need a solution, no other changes to the rest of the team.

Keep BEK away to avoid an injury whilst we cash in.

Yeah I've watched plenty of football thanks. They murdered Ipswich and were robbed, they dominated Blackburn and won at the death and had about 30 attempts on goal v Oxford. They're a good side playing much better than us currently so therefore it will be a hard game. I'm not sure how you could come to any other conclusion, or you think we will win easily? I'd love nothing more than for us to hit form and beat them but the way the two teams are playing I can't see it.

16 shots and 1 on target against Oxford, quite different from 30!

Can’t say I’ve watched much of Birmingham under Davies. Only their game against Ipswich. They were aggressive and gave the opposition very little time on the ball. Stansfield and Kyogo looked lively and you could clearly see they were riding the crest of a wave after breaking all records in league one

We need to match their energy and physicality, Marti needs to bring out the counter-press he was taking up in pre-season, and what we implemented against Fiorentina. If we’re passive and move the ball slowly I fear for this

Need the crowd to be with the players, give Rudkin pelters obviously but be loud and give the players a lift. Should be giving Davies stick too, he was more than complicit in our first relegation
