I feel like Louis Page's advisors getting him to turn down the deal the contract offer has probably had a big impact on them giving him game time to try and keep him. Which has in turn meant Alves gets loaned out.

Might not be a bad thing for him but if he carries on like this and we still don't play him next season he should tell us to do one.

I don't think this is the case, in fact it's being alluded that the reason Jake Evans hasn't been included recently is due to not signing a pro deal yet.

Ironically if we get promoted this season the chances of losing Alves will probably go up significantly.

I get the impression from the snippets I've heard (admittedly second hand)that he doesnt particularly like it at Leicester, too many egos etc. And he enjoyed his time at Cardiff much more.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave at some point regardless of whether we want to keep him

They're all "slow burners" til they get actual game time. The division is full of teams giving their youth players a chance - because they havent got underperforming deadwood like Faes, Kristiansen, BDR and Soumare taking up spaces in it.

I get it at PL level its a huge jump so you loan them out. But this is the division you loan them out to, as we're here we should be playing them in it.

Which is fair but given in his loans spells he's being played LW, if he was to stay he's in a queue behind Mav and Monga, who shows that youth WILL be given a chance if they're at the level.

Mavs off it now, but has the benefit of history and experience on his side and Monga is simply better, so Alves is 3rd choice.  You can say he's a 10, but it seems evident that's not where he'll be trusted currently, and Monga says he sees himself as a 10, so if you are sticking a youth player in that spot, he's 2nd choice out of the young lads again.

I suppose ideally we'd have loaned him out to a championship side, but maybe the top sides have no need for him and it's felt that it's better for him not to join another Cardiff. A season chasing promotion might be better than one where they're fighting off relegation.

We have literally fielded the two youngest players in the division this season, so I don't think you can beat the club with a stick about not using youngsters.  Though you can for hanging onto the underperforming deadwood.  But none of those listed are keeping Alves out.  There's a grievance for Nelson and Aluko there, but not Will.

Playing minutes probably helps.

I think you are going to struggle to find a football club without egos

I think Marti will get that under control, like Enzo did.

Marti gives me Pearson vibes.

Yeah sometimes a club can progress quicker than the player. He won't be ready for Premier League and it'll be another season out somewhere else.

I’ve not given up on alvez yet.
I have a feeling he’s gonna be a really a really important player for Huddersfield.

hes surrounded by some good high impact players so should do well. Once his loan is over it will be crunch time to bring him into the first team or not. If not I feel Alvez will want to leave. I would not blame him either as he has to look after his career and at the elite level you can’t afford to regress or you become forgotten very quickly!

Doesn't Page being played prove that isn't the case?

Ric is referring to the fact both are in the process of or just have changed their agent and therefore any negotiations would be on hold

Ill give this the benefit of the doubt of going through people second hand. But if true, its disappointing to read. Football is full of ego's everywhere from players to agents to certain brands of managers. Im sure we have our fair share - but it will be nothing like at the big six and top half PL. Cardiff would have been easier on this front simply because of the lack of any quality in that team. And they got relegated anyway. Alves should be aspiring to hit the top. That doesn't mean he should be one of the egos but hes got to appreciate they are going to be around. Its the first indication that he might not have the self belief of mentality ro reach beyond a certain level.

Lets hope its more to do about just preferring actually getting playing time and egos not getting in the way of playing time, which i would completely understand no matter what.

Yeah. If he's happy to be a bit part player in the PL I'd personally be happy with him here in that league. It would be impossible for him to be worse than Reid for example.

Sad to hear but entirely predictable. When we moved to Seagrave that was one of the problems we encountered, instead of a collective, we had cliques everywhere, some not getting on with others. Then you have senior pros like Winks acting like a twat. Thankfully I think Marti understands this and is trying to do something about it.

Says more about us than him. How can we criticize that opinion when it’s one all the fans share.

The club was in a toxic state last season and we all know that we have these inflated egos on crap. Why would we criticize a lad who loves the club, for thinking that what’s been going on isn’t great, if we all think that as well?!

Alves's development is surely 12 to 18 months behind what it would have been had he not been injured. Maybe even two full years when you consider he's not just had to return physically but mentally and reach the level he was at before injury.

He has a high ceiling. A confidence-boosting loan will do him the world of good.
