Alves loaned to Huddersfield - Official

Really pleased he's got this loan. Would have preferred him to get regular gametime for us, but at Huddersfield he should get that, with an opportunity to build his confidence and reputation. Hoping he smashes it, comes back and makes it impossible not to play him, whatever league we're in.

Good luck to him, shame really but if we do end up getting promoted I think that could be it for his time with the club, but I think is loan is needed for both parties, it’s clear he has potential but from what I’ve seen this season he’s struggled to really get into the game even during pre season, and he’s clearly not going to get a lot of minutes for us this season.

Played as a 10 last night for Huddersfield, only in the youth cup thing though so will be interesting to see how he is used in the league

I feel like that's exactly the kind of goal Alves needed to score. Getting into those positions will be crucial for him building the kind of confidence that will hopefully lead to him dominating games and scoring the kind of spectacular goals we know he's got in his locker.

 

A great start for him.

We know he can have an impact from the bench from his time at Cardiff.

 

Next step for him is to have an impact when starting games then hopefully cement himself in that Huddersfield starting XI.

Alves just needed to get out and play a whole season somewhere. He’s a talented lad who’s suffered a horrible injury, that can end careers at that age. He’s struggled since he got back, but I think this loan will do him the world of good. Help him to refund his feet, confidence and really kick on.

I think Alves needs to find his role in the team. Played today as a LW, scored the goal but hardly saw the ball. Drifted infield a few times and I think he prefers the 10 position, as he can get on the ball and make more of an impact.

I doubt he will ever break through at this club. Too many managers have discarded him they can’t all be wrong. Also this season was his chance to shine if there was going to be one

since he was assaulted he's only ever been available for 3 (he was never fit for Smith or Enzo) of them and 2 were morons, Alves drove this loan as he knows he needed to get games Marti was happy to keep him around

He's only played 711 league minutes and has scored 2 goals and 3 assists, that's one every 140 odd minutes, must of those minutes in the Championship in a crap side.

 

Barnes got 6 goals and 1 assist in his first loan at League 1 level in 1684 minutes.

 

I think Will could surpass those numbers.

The desire to get to that ball and ram it home is what's not been seen enough of from Alves even in his days taking the piss in academy football. The one part of his game i've wanted to be stronger is the urgency to get in to the box whatever the cost.

I think Monga being ridiculous at 16 has skewed some fans perceptions of how development works. 20 is still so so young.
