Strictly in terms of ability, if you had to put a Leicester team together, what would it be?

As I say, it's based strictly on individual ability, therefore, I'm not going just with the 15/16 team.

I was born in 1994.

I'm going with:

Schmeichel

Ricardo

Evans

Huth

Fuchs

Kanté

Cambiasso

Mahrez

Madisson

Barnes

Vardy

Goalkeeper, RW and Striker were the most obvious ones for me. Almost everything else is debatable. I found the centre backs particularly difficult. In terms of all around footballing ability Fofana should be in there. However, Huth is defensively the best CB I've seen and Evans at his best was the most complete. It's also difficult to leave Morgan out of any best Leicester team.

I really wanted to put a couple of players from the Martin O'Neil era in, but I couldn't think who would honesty get in. You could make a case for Izzet in midfield, but we've probably had better midfielders in the past decade. If you wanted two strikers, you could make a case for Heskey upfront with Vardy.

I was born in 1985 and that is pretty much the XI I'd go for, though I'd probably put Morgan in there instead of Evans for his leadership quality. Muzzy Izzet was a ****ing delight to watch so I'd definitely put him in there with a change of formation

Schmeichel

Ricardo

Morgan

Huth

Fuchs

Kanté

Cambiasso

Izzet

Mahrez

Madisson

Vardy

Kasper

Ricardo
Fofana :glare:
Huth
Fuchs

Kante
Tielemans

Mahrez
Maddison
Barnes

Vardy

I'd be very tempted to shift Mahrez central and replace Maddison with Fatawu but probably can't quite justify it yet. (Born 95)

Guppy

Kante

Izzet

Mahrez

Vardy

Fatawu

Guppy and Ricky bombing on, Kante can cover the ground to make up for them marauding

I wasn’t old enough to have watched them but I’ve always been under the impression Elliott was the better player between him and Walsh

Kasper (but special mention for Flowers who was my favourite when I was younger)

Ricardo flying down the right.

Fofana

Elliott - a ball playing proper centre back just lacked pace. (special mention for Morgan)

Fuchs

Kante

Izzet (not really where I would play him but one who absolutely have made the team/squad in our recent period)

Mahrez

Maddison

Guppy (what a left foot Vards would’ve loved him).

Vardy

Two things - I’ve written that out and realised only 4 are title winners. I’ll probably change it again later as more people post.

Born in 1985 & stated going to games in 1991 - Will try to contain recency bias if I can...

Schmeichel

Ricardo

Elliott (People forget that he had a fine technique on the ball)

Morgan (A fine 1v1 defender - an undervalued quality)

Fuchs

Kante

Tielemans

Izzet (A crime that he never played for England - victim of big club bias)

Mahrez

Maddison

Vardy

Bench x9

Flowers

G. Mills (massively underrated - Played in a European Cup Final at 17)

Maguire (our version - not the Man Utd one)

Guppy (so adaptable)

Cambiasso (old master)

Draper (would have gone onto big things if not for injury)

Barnes

Lookman

Heskey

izzet Kante Tielemans Mahrez

Lineker Vardy

I’m desperate to throw prime Mark Draper in there, but he loses out…. I can’t believe there’s not a spot for Heskey either

I’d say Elliott was the better player.

In my opinion Evans should not be near anyone’s team. Not fit to lace the boots of Elliott, Huth, Walsh, Morgan or even Taggart or Sinclair. Personally hold him high in “blame for our relegation”

regard.

Did the way he conducted himself leave a bad taste? Certainly. But he had it all as a centre back. He was far more complete than any of the central defenders you've mentioned. During the first 6/7 months under Rodgers he was putting in some of the smoothest performances from a centre half imaginable.

People sleep on Elliot forget how good he was up the other end.

when you consider some strikers fail to score more than 5 in a season, he has 2 seasons of 7 and 6 goals.

22 Goals in 199 prem games

don't get me wrong i like fatawu but you have to be a lemming to put him in their in ability in this current moment - he is still a young player and is leagues behind peak barnes

Lots of players have excelled in the champ and struggled in the prem so it would be a bit early to judge.

As for Guppy at left back, he played a lot of games at LM, LW

People probably remember the goals and assists but they were generally from more advanced positions.

I don’t think he was anywhere near as good as Matt Elliott personally.

I think he’s the best defender we’ve ever had.
