If it wasn’t literally a championship winning centre back partnership I’d have less sympathy, but I understand why you’d start of with it given how competitive the league looks and our unknown points deduction

that said, I’d have Nelson on the bench for sure

@Tommy Freshwas referring to PSR. We are definitely shafting ourselves PSR wise by not choosing to develop Nelson. It’s all or nothing on promotion now. We have chosen using these players over developing our youngsters. If we miss promotion now, we neither have that cash influx nor our youngsters developed with eyes on big sales.

"Deserve" is where we differ. He has to find a way. I completely think he has talent, and I'd love for him to own the shirt for years... but "deserve" is too strong I reckon.

Deserves to have a chance to play somewhere I mean. That could be League 1, it could be Championship.

I’ll be disappointed in the club if we don’t move him on in January so he can play somewhere.

Marginal decisions these. If they think he IS good enough, we absolutely should not move him on! He has time on his side. Think KDH.

I was hoping this year the plan was to get some of these young lads in the side, not to play the same old faces and let downs from previous years.

It's been 6 games in which he has given multiple youth products minutes in the team. The idea that you can start them all every match is for the birds.

Could he do more? possibly

Has he been a disaster for the academy? No don't be rediculous

There are 46 games + cup games thos season there will be plenty of opportunity let's not have ridiculous reaction to the first 6 games

"Disaster for academy"... crikes. That's such a crazy take after a handful of matches isn't it.

Manager is under huge pressure, of course he is going to start seasoned pro's over youth .. I'm sure he will bed them in over the season or change it if required, right now neither is the case.

We knew we were losing Vardy, we had months to prepare, we knew our remaining strikers were not fit for purpose so how is it that we managed to bring in the one forward that can't unseat Jordan bloomin' Ayew?

Don’t disagree with that, but we are a few games in, plenty of time to phase Nelson in across the season. Ropey start for him and reverting to a championship winning CB pairing doesn’t mean he isn’t going to play again this season.

No we shouldn’t. Any player in the last two years of their contract should be moved on if they are not part of the team. Otherwise we are just hoarding.

I hope he goes for a small fee and makes his next club a fat profit to be fair. I’m sick of this club.

Like it was early days in Rodgers last season and we were never going to get relegated you mean? I saw that a mile off and I am as certain Nelson barely plays for us. Which will means we massively lose out financially.

Not a disaster for the academy, he’s trying to find a balance between playing a lot of these who let us down, keep them in a shop window if someone is daft enough to take them on and win Football matches.

Academy lads will feature when the suspensions, injuries and crap form come around, give the guy a chance!!

It's not enforceable that you have to follow them.

Comments like this bug me. If it's in our blood we don't get to change. Does not mean we have to be bl***y happy clappers all the time!

Both will happen at times this season. Marti just explained in an interview that Carranza didn't have much of a pre season, and Mongo needs protecting.

Exactly. People overreacting because we're not starting a 16year old and a player whos only just arrived (who many seemed unsure of when we signed, anyway).

Its a bit frustrating not to see Nelson/Page on the bench at least, but the starting XI really isn't that bad for this moment in time. It's still on paper one of the strongest sides in the league.

I like the thought that this is the case and think it’s the best way to go.  but yet he dropped Nelson and page, he also has selected Ayew, Soumare and labs relentlessly. I get your point but there comes a time when it must change.

He’s never picked Nelson (cup only)

and Page was injured

We probably have different views on Sounare and Ayew, which is fine…
