Good to have some different games this year like Portsmouth, Wrexham and Oxford. A decade of West Ham, Crystal Palace and Southampton brings a dull familiarity.

Derby as well, and Charlton earlier this season. We haven't played some of these clubs in years. I think tomorrow is the first game against Portsmouth since 2011.

Yep 2 draws in 2011/12 season - not beaten Portsmouth since 2004.

Actually have good memories as my roommate at Uni was a Portsmouth fan in the 02/03 season where we both got promoted

This game is going to effectively be a Milan Mandaric Memorial and hopefully his minutes applause goes without any idiots

Anyone fancy a bet,

Stolarcyzk will pick the ball out of the back of his net

Daka will not score

Mavs will play like he`s forgotten what to do

Faes will make at least 1 stupid mistake

Our subs will make absolutely no logical sense

Everyone will be amazed when we somehow scrape a win

I thought this was a rhyme at first

Isn’t Murphy missing for them?

Sad that I get that excited about a Championship level winger missing for the opposition, but highlights our pretty big fall from grace really.

I would take familiarity over being in the Championship.

I think we’ll go

Stolarczyk

Ricardo

Faes

Vestergaard

Thomas

Winks

JJ

Ramsey

Fatawu

Daka

Monga

I think, this is the first game we show the division who we are. 6-0 win.

Daka hat trick - Fatawu, Monga and Thomas. With the goals - the we start walking over this division.

Not sure whether to laugh, cry or like this... but from the few minutes I've seen thus far going to laugh...

I don't think that the starting 11 will be as strong as people hope. We will want to save some of our better players to start on Tuesday.

Not as big as the fall of Safeway though

Play up Pompey, Pompey play up!!

Long time since weve heard that.

Hope they are loud and up for it, it should bring the best out of our tossers

Hope so, he’s genuinely two footed. Watched him in the Southampton game playing on the left and whipping balls in with quality with his left foot ( how innovative, could it catch on ?!!! ) , yet took corners with his right. Age not on his side but would have improved us imo.

Completely agree.

A signing that would have been low risk, wouldn’t have cost the earth.

I keep thinking back about last summers window and imagine spending as much as we did and only Bilal improved the starting 11.

Cooper’s unhealthy obsession with PL experience set us back more than gets mentioned on here!

Portsmouth wanted decent money for him didn't they, add in his age, it's probably the type of short sighted signing we definitely should have avoided.

What was decent money though?

I might be making it too simplistic but our issue is our wage structure.

Imagine signing Murphy on a three year deal on 30k per week.

He would get a lot of minutes and clearly very, very good at this level.

Yeah would have been silly.

If we get promoted this season he’s instantly surplus to requirements and another player we would be stuck with.

Signing experienced players on a relatively low wage and short deal is not always a bad deal.

There is a difference between signing someone like Murphy (30) on 30k per week for three years to signing a 33 year old Ayew on double/treble that 🤮

I was stood with a few Portsmouth fans at the Leicester Tigers match just now and they were giving large with “you can stick your Bath Rugby up your @rse”, after Tigers won with the last kick of the match.
