and he would comfortably land a top half prem job.

What are you talking about? Southgate would not land a top half prem job lol

He's a failed National Team manager who the country was glad to see the back of. No self-respecting club or fanbase wants him.

Tactically awful manager who won games because his team had quality.

Yeah agreed, that's why I find some of the nose turning a bit baffling. Beggars can't be choosers... and we are most definitely at the point of begging now.

Or are we just painfully slow?

Lol.

He's reached finals of major international tournaments.  He will walk into a top half Prem job on big money on reputation alone.  I don't doubt that his success at club level may turn out to be questionable but to suggest he may consider a Championship relegation fight is absolutely bonkers!

What he did do was install a strong professional culture while still allowing players to enjoy the experience of playing for England. Something England managers before failed at.

I like the sound of that at Leicester. I think it's what we need at the moment.

I think he is a leader. I also think he'd be great with our Youth which is our future.

And as you've pointed out, Southgate might not get an opportunity in the Premier League based on fans feeling towards him.

We cannot afford him, he'd want a few million per year to work here.

I'd take him in a CEO/technical director role.

Has he succeeded anywhere as a manager outside of Norway? I don't understand why people want him.

Throwing names out there, happy for you to put some forward.👍

Now, that would be a good shout - and a possibility (no more than that - as I doubt very much he'd be interested) as well, given his skills in general Management, working with clubs and the FA in squad selection and negotiating player availability. I thought Coleman would be a decent choice in the Director role, with his experience with Wales.

I've heard it's actually a really ambitious appointment.

Is it because they said no, so we kidnapped them in the boot of a limo and won't let them out until they say yes?

So you would rather give it the wrong person till the end of the season then give to a pointless candidate? Andy king is not the man to keep us up, surly  there is a better candidate out there who can get more out the team then king?

How about another King ?

King Charles

only a gut feel so no link but it seems to be on trend to get manager's from Scandi region (thinking Middlesbrough) I wonder if we're trying for Kjetil Knutsen at Bodo Glimt. Surely the dude is ready for the next step...and I think would be deemed as 'ambitious' given they are a Champions League team....maybe wishful thinking

I wanted Knutsen when we appointed Enzo, feel the boat has passed on him dropping to this level now - he’s always seemed reluctant to leave Bodo too, I imagine he’s received a few offers

We won;t appoint anybody with a reasonable track record. Gerrard could have his pick of several better jobs than ours that will come up

He won a league title in Scotland when there was no opposition. He was absolutely appalling at Villa.

And yet his teams got further than any other manage including Venables who had the golden generation. The players clearly rated him.
