Well, score only 330 odd across 2 innings in a Test in Oz and you'll find that difficult to defend no matter how well you bowl.

One thing that has become obvious is that this one has been decided on one good performance in one innings, so the rest of the series is far from a foregone conclusion.

I find the England team deeply unlikeable so it makes it easier to take.

May I ask why? Speaking personally, I'm OK with them actually having a bit of ego rather than the team that won one Test in 17 before them.

Worst part was that prat Vaughan on tms yesterday saying Boland was finished and England would win this game at a canter.

And he will be leading the criticism now too .

Suppose in this game it has only needed one or two to put an innings together and obviously that has hasn’t happened too often till now .

Hazlewood missing won't matter- Starc, Boland and Cummins more than enough for us.

So frustrating. As you say, we had it in the bag at lunch. Just bat properly, wait for the ball to soften then cash in. Don't try and drive Boland and Starc when they're on the money and zipping it around.

Both of England's innings combined lasted less than 70 overs. We don't often read a game situation. Bazball will rarely work on wickets that do a bit, plus these huge Oz outfields make it even more risky.

And like you say, you can't play booming drives when it's nipping about

After the apathy of following Leicester over the last couple of seasons, it's been a long time since I've been this annoyed watching sport. TNT's woeful coverage only adding to it. Nice to feel alive again.

I logged on here for an alternative to the bbc Sport knee jerk reactions and this is what I read. Pitch is doing a bit I think and the bowlers didnt looked under prepared in the first innings!

I never mentioned the preparation or any lack of it before the series, I just pointed out that if we get another 5-0 series loss, or even a 4-1, then those running English cricket, will once again blame the county game, and will once again call for there to be less counties, as they did after our last 5-0 thrashing down there!

I woke up when we had a 100 run lead and 9 wickets in hand.

It blows my mind how often this team work so hard to get into a great position, only to piss it up the wall in spectacular style.

At least we lose quickly.

The criticism is that it’s the ego that’s actually stopped them being a good team. I’ve blamed him before because he’s the most annoying but Harry Brook, probably the most talented batter we’ve had since 2000 Root aside, throwing his wicket away regularly and then just being like “well it’s just the way we play” in interviews. It’s not weakness to work on your temperament.

I'm no Vaughan fan but, at the time, both of those things were true.

England have thrown this away with their brainlessness.

I think taking away that self belief in the name of adjusting temperament is a pretty dangerous road to go down.

These players win matches they should have lost - and get back b into series they should have lost - because they back themselves. Unfortunately, the opposite also occurs. I guess the question is about finding a balance somewhere, but who knows where that is?

Bowlers have been badly let down by the batsmen here.

To have bowled so brilliantly, to get us into a position where we can win the game then end up being back out there 3 hours later to try and do it again... must be completely demoralising.

I swear every time we lose it just gets blamed on bazball. I guarantee if we change the coach and style we don’t suddenly win every game, and the batting collapses occur just as regularly as they have done in the last 10 years
