Could be more than 1 club who really want him at the end of his World Cup, so might not go for an absolute pittance. If it wasn’t for the World Cup then i’d predict he would leave us in the January window for a half decent fee, if we keep Seagrave and he wanted somewhere nice to ease back into a hopefully a good few more years as a player.

I'm loving the amount times Leicester city has been mentioned in the coverage so far in this match (watching on In Demand)

any interested clubs will negotiate with his agent, not us.

we will be told the fee by the buying club

thats where we are as a league 1 club thats broke - as someone once said ‘you don’t have any cards’.

harry (and his agent) will get any uplift on his fee as part of his package

At the very best we will get his amortised value. (Approx 5m)

unless we really are more skint that I thought

We are more skint that you thought..

With bills of between 55m-70m looming and projected incomings of around 14m, I'd say that is the purest definition of skint you will ever find..

All down to the way Rudkin has run the club. Letting players go for free ,over paying wages the wrong managers and very poor players

He has to be sold out of necessity (due to Top and Rudkin) but will join a side far better than what those two assemble. Says it all about the calibre of those two.

Not with a dozy billionaire owner who will just convert debt into equity again:ph34r:

Although looking at his injury record may make it look high risk I could see several promotion chasing Championship clubs or even one of the promoted Premier League sides taking a punt on him, it’s a gamble but for what he can bring it’s very good value. Hope we can keep him though, not just his ability but his application in that Millwall game was night and day over the assortment of muppets we’d seen all season.

It was reported that the second year, parachute payments had not been utilised at the time of writing the other month

He's undoubtedly slow over 5-10 yards.

Not Vestergaard slow but he's not exactly quick off the mark.

Yeah we will be persisting with the methodology of a defender who can pass is better than a defender who can defend as per the last 3 years, as obviously its very successful.

Seeing him going on to success elsewhere is going to sting like nothing else since the title winning squad was picked off.

What a wasted opportunity - even survival in the Championship would have been enough to keep him and build a squad with him as captain. Instead he's going to get back from a World f**king Cup where he captained his country to find Russell F**king Martin and the prospect of midweek games against Bromley and Notts County waiting for him.

Top speed is one thing, how quick you can accelerate is another.

Slightly tongue in cheek. But when watching him for a Sheff Utd, he can cover some ground quickly to get over to support out wide.

I guess it’s like any athlete and runners. Some are long distance and other sprinters. Different strengths but I find it unfair when Souttar has been labelled as a slow lump as clearly in some ways he is not slow at all.

And this is why you build a team around each others strengths. Clearly as a partnership, yeah you could benefit from someone a bit more agile next to Souttar. But he has a lot of strengths too. If you said you can have a solid dominant defender who isn’t the most agile or essentially an athlete could can’t defend for their life, I’d take the former and try to compensate elsewhere.

I just think Souttar has constantly been called shit, slow, waste of space etc when actually, when he has played, I can’t think he has let us down. The problem was signing a defender when we employ managers and a style that don’t believe in such a thing!

He solid enough, just think he was a bit of a panic buy.

My Brother in law is a Stoke fan, and was surprised how much we paid and the fact we tried to play him in a back 4, his view is he better as 1 of 3 CBs.

Think he been a tad unlucky with injuries and not being fancied by Enzo or Cooper.

100% a panic buy. As I say, we don’t defend properly and haven’t for years so he was never going to fit. And it was a lot of money.

But I try and separate the ‘deal’ from outright criticism of a player. Too much? Yes. Not the right fit? Yes. Unlucky with injuries? Yes. Crap player? No. A strong defender at this level as shown when he has had a chance and at Sheff Utd.

Playing as one of three as well like you say. When did we last do that? Great escape season?
