In an ideal world, he'd stay with Newport to continue his development. But our circumstances are far from ideal and we will need somebody with Braybrooke's skill set in the second half of the season. Gerrimback.

Who gets dropped to bring him in?

Let him have a full season playing whether that’s at Newport or he moves somewhere else second half of the season.

Then get him into the squad for the 26/27 Championship campaign

We're most likely going to cash in on more players in Jan (Winks Soumare) so we might not have a choice but to bring him back.  Unless we're lucky with loans our squad will be smaller and weaker for the second half of the season.

Without Winks and Soumare our team will be smaller but in terms of commitment I’m not so sure we will be weaker. I can put up with Soumare but Winks should never play for us again.

For all that Newport are shit, we are also shit and Winks is out of the picture (for now anyway) I'd be hesitant to recall him largely because, through no real fault of his own, it's the first time he's ever been playing senior football week in week out. I'm guessing his form means we could probably find him another loan at a higher level but there's no certainty he fits in or plays anywhere near as regularly. Similarly, I don't think there's really any guarantee he plays very often here either, and is it really worth dragging him back into this environment to have him sit on the bench and maybe pick up a handful of minutes here and there? From the sounds of it he's pretty integral to everything Newport do in a way that I can't imagine he would be here - the responsibility seems to be doing him good even if the reason he's been given it is that his teammates are all absolutely gash.

I do think there's merit to each option but on balance I'd probably leave him be and let him get a full, uninterrupted season of first team football under his belt.

He won’t be at Newport after Jan 1st

How many goals or assists has he had whilst out on loan ?

No goals and an assist. They've only scored 20 in 19 games though and he's more of a deep lying playmaker anyway.

Sofascore has him as the highest rated player in League two according to their data.

He’s also got the highest 3rd highest tackles per game in the league

He’s got a 53% aerial dual success too which made me laugh considering he’s 4ft 6 lol

Hold on.. Sofascore have him at 5ft 10 so maybe they can’t be trusted lol

At the very least he won’t be at Newport post January. We’re playing catch up with his development, he’ll be off to league one if we aren’t going to use him. Clearly too good for league two.

Our long term CM options are Skipp, Choudhury and Page.

Integrate him now, even if he only turns out to be depth that's a hell of a lot better than using our limited budget on packing out the squad in the summer. He's better than that anyway, I think James will enjoy playing with him as he's more progressive with his passing and carrying than the others.

Mavididi            ST          Fatawu

    Braybrooke              James

             Skipp/Choudhury

Aluko/LT Nelson Souttar Pereira/Aluko

                          JS

Is the best we cobble together with a mind on trying to get into the play offs and having a long term outlook.

No. For all the crap signings and players (many worse than Hamza), he probably epitomises the state we're in more than anyone else. How he's continually been kept on is mind blowing.

Later development in technical players is something we’ve seen here previously. KDH who very looks a PL player now didn’t when he was 18/19. His progress since then has also been a surprise. I remember Nige mentioning once that he was very surprised at Harvey Barnes and the development. Never saw him as a potential first team PL when he was with us.

Both Alves and Braybrooke were raved about a few years ago but that position can be very hard to make your own. Perhaps we don’t see our golden generation come good for a few more years. Very pleasing as a fan to read some of these reviews.

I thought he meant more long term as in under contract past this season (with Winks and Soumare going). But even Choudhury only has until 2027.

Im not sure why Choudhury has been constantly used as a right back. Maresca started it. He’s a central midfielder. Wilder tried him at full back and as a good coach, realised this quickly and put him back in his main position where he did really well for a side that got 90 points (something we can only dream of currently).

Hamza’s obviously a mess off the field and that would be reason on its own to move him on. His wages are above his ability (per most of this squad) and that is another reason to move him on.

As for his merits as a player, in his main position, he has plenty to offer at this level. I’d move him on in a heartbeat. But on Wednesday, rather than moving BDR back, I’d have had Aluko or Ricardo (we had 2 RBs on the bench ffs) on for James and pushed Hamza into midfield.

Basically, move him on or use him properly. Not the stupid Maresca experiment.

I don't rate him particularly - the post was stating that's who we have contracted long term. We have 4 CMs that have started more than 3 senior games, Winks and Soumare's deals are up in the summer. So literally we have Skipp and Choudhury going into next season as it stands.

The best thing for him is to play 40+ games. Keep him at Newport where he’s happy and regaining his spark.

We’ll hopefully be in the Championship next season so by the summer he can have pre season here with an aim to get into the squad which I think he will.

head says this the correct answer
