As long as it's a this season only thing and he's been putting the hard yards in to be as close to match fitness as is realistic, I don't mind it.

Realistically we don't have the funds or the pull to attract the type of striker to build a team around. Not in a January window anyway. Famously a sellers market.

We're desperate, he's desperate. In that sense it's a good match.

Hopefully he's match fit in a month or two and if nothing else he offers us much needed physicality at the top end of the pitch.

Sign a promising young striker in the summer.

In the meantime whilst he’s gaining fitness he will still be big and strong enough to be better for the last 20 than Daka, ball may actually stick.

All the positive posts for signing him have been "he's not as bad as the shit we have" rather than "he's a good player"

No good player that costs fxxk all to sign is coming to us though.

Okay - so we should sign players for the sake of it? Ones that aren't going to be the difference between life above this division or in it? When we're in the dirt financially? Have a think, Christ

I did always quite like him but blimey. He looked to really drop off in the last couple of years - for obvious sort of reasons.

Think he lost a bit of his drive.

I don't mind it, if it's a short term deal and he has an option if he performs for us. In other words a motivation to at least try.

Not a terrible decision, he's better than Daka and Caranza. Like others have said, just his injury that is the worry.

I thought in the summer that it wouldnt be possible to find a striker worse than Daka and Ayew, yet we did it.   I should never have doubted you Rudders.

Think it exposes the thinking from the board that they think it's still possible for us to go up.

I disagree, but tbf it's still on the cards on paper.

It's a big 'if', but if he can be fit, he could be a difference maker.

I don't think we make the play-offs with or without him, but to have any chance we'd need a better option up top than our current lot.

Bloke broke both legs in a car accident and hasn’t played for over a year, which immediately makes him an improvement on what we have.

And still scored only two less than Daka in that time!

Long winded way of agreeing with me mate

Miquel doesn’t like this… expect to see Jake Evans mum/sister create a foxestalk account soon!

I'm not really that arsed, I appreciate he's better than what we've got but I don't think he gets us up, which makes the whole deal more cash down a plughole? It's not my fault rational people have started chewing their keyboards tonight

I mean. I’ve always liked him as a player and would wish him the best and he may actually be better than what we have but fvck me it’s a depressing, desperate signing that sums up so much about what is wrong with our club at the moment.

Providing we do thorough medical and hes fully fit. I have no problem with a short term deal and championship wages. Get rid of Carranza and there's no difference, if he does okay then bonus. If not then were in the same dire situation as we already are. At least hes a proper number 9. Its just his fitness that's the real question mark.

To get us up from where we are now would take 5/6 signings to hit the ground running and our manager to suddenly become tactically competent, neither of these are going to happen.

It’s shit that this is where we are as a club, but I genuinely think he improves us and we are currently at risk of going down with a points deduction. If he ended up scoring a few goals to keep us up then fair enough.

That said, a player declining who then nearly dies in a car crash and can’t get another club is not filling me with confidence.

Better than what we have.

If he can come back with a good level of fitness he'll not only be a good goalscorer at this level but also give us some real presence up top.

Not ideal with Ayew and Reid as our other aging forwards, but on a short-team deal he gives us something we currently don't have.

If he's good, hopefully we can bin off Ayew. I just hope this doesn't mean that Evans gets bumped back down and not given a shot. I'd love to see him get some game time soon.
