the set up wasn’t so much the issue.. it was what appeared to be the lack of interest from the players and failure to fight for every ball., their ability to let their heads drop very quickly and the complete inability of Martin to get them playing , together, for a whole game.

i think if you have the right manager, pretty much any set up could make us more competitive than what we have been so far this season..

right manager AND the right set up,  we’d be flying!

To me the set up is the issue, Marti set them up to fail, enabled the bad traits of JV/Ayew and allowed the wingers to be greedy during to zero support.

Now JV is back, the last two games were even slower to get the ball out the back trying to play the same way that hasn’t worked since Enzo left. The pass from the cb into the middle at the cost of any other option is the blocker.

A decent manager will command Ayew to stop doing what he does and just goal hang.

King must be able to recognise these awful patterns of play and adapt, if not then see you later and good luck.

I'm someone that's told people repeatedly to stop calling for King as the manager because he's seriously lacking in experience and expecting him to be ready for the shit show of our club as a first senior job would be insane.

With that said, he's not an idiot and he's extremely serious about progressing as a coach.

He was doing the FAW coaching pathway for a while and they don't **** around. Whatever you think about Welsh football, the FAW have gone all in on coaching courses and are gaining recognition as one of the best in Europe.

He's had a pretty solid education up to now, he's not just going to lead one or two pointless sessions to keep the squad busy then throw them out in a generic 442.

And I don't really think he deserves to be tarred with the failure of Cifuentes.

End of the day, for better or worse, he's in charge for now we may as well give him the benefit of the doubt and wish him well.

just for the record, I think he’ll make a great manager one day. The problem  He’s just been a first team coach for less than a year. I don’t think that’s enough experience to , with no money to spend, drag us out of the absolute car crash of a situation we are in.

On the 'Managerial Appointment' thread, I've put out the idea that all the rumours about Coleman coming in, COULD be, that he's intended as an interim appointment to help AK. His experience and links to Kingy with Wales, do support that view.

PS I've also wondered if Coleman could be the impending 'mystery' Technical Director Appointment. While his actual experience doesn't seem ideal for that Sporting or Technical Director role, a case might be made, that he could do it. And of course, he's 'worked' (metaphorically!), with Rudkin, at Leuven.

I think the Cookie links are probably rubbish but if they're not I imagine he's been approached about the possibility of just taking over til the end of the season with King being his assistant.

I don't think for one second the club would approach him as a long term solution.

Don't see any likelihood he's in line for the director's job either.

He's just an out of work, available, experienced coach that the club think can firefight til the end of the season when they'll look for someone permanent.

Watch us get accidentally promoted and then set a generational points low in the Prem after sticking with him until November lol

I don't think you're going to need to worry about that lol

Indeed. I've got Norwich as my accidental promotion. 50/1

I don't disagree with any of that aside from my suspicion he may go for 4-4-2.

We don't have any central midfielders and none of our strikers are effective playing up-top alone.

Its a massive risk because our full backs are tragic; but if it frees our wingers up a bit and gets them in the game then we might theoretically not end up defending so much.

I suspect King has a fairly big future in the coaching/management game.

Get Frank Burrows back as well in that case

That would be hard since he died a few years ago. But he was a decent Manager in his day.

I just feel King wont be strong enough to handle the players so it wouldn't do any harm to have someone they wouldn't mess with alongside him for support.

What's Kingy like in interviews? I hope he's really really really boring.

I hope he comes out with strong positive statements like  We're at Home so we'll start Strong with a high Tempo. And I expect us to win the game though it wont be easy.

We'll give it everything for the Cause, because that's what we're paid to do.

Players listen to these interviews and buy into what the Manager says, Intentionally or not.

If he comes out with wishy washy statements like these are a good team etc then I expect us to lose.

Michael Appleton has just been sacked… again… he needs to get back to being a coach!

He's very vanilla, bless him. Doesn't come across as passionate but that is just him, I think.

I liked him when he was with us. He was a good caretaker as well.

And knows where the pec deck is.

I’m fairly sure even if they weren’t employed by the club, people like Nige or Wes would pick up the phone if Kingy rang asking for some advice

I agree.

Pretty sure Nige would be happy to help.

I think you're in safe hands.

I'm sure he'd love to have Pearson in some capacity alongside him. But I don't see it happening unless there's a see change of direction from Top.
