Well from what he said there, it was the club that screwed him over not Ranieri.  Secondly him keeping his "schedule" every day by going in, but not training, or at least not training properly shows himself to have been unprofessional. He was still being paid as part of a contract, so that was poor from him. Thirdly the club was right to not leave their selves short with the African nations coming up, and rather than spew any more money on a striker as bad as Slimani, they wanted to keep Ulloa, who had been a good option in the past. Finally, given that Slimani was a donkey, and a waste of money, maybe if ulloa had been professional, and worked and trained hard, you know, actually work for the money his contract paid him, he might have been able to play ahead of Slimani.  Very disappointing from Ulloa, who I've always liked, and had respect for.

I don’t think Ulloa would be the only player who was frustrated with Ranieri. It was an incredibly positive act by the club to sack him when they did.

I’ll never have sympathy for a player that refuses to  train.  And if he didn’t want to play for us, he shouldn’t have signed a contract.
 

 

He’s gone way down in my estimation, after reading this.

We had a chairman that was at least somewhat pro-active and was prepared to make a decisions that was in the best interests of the club even if it made him unpopular. He actually gave him more than enough time to try and turn it around and sack him just before it was too late.

Albrighton said it on that Under the Cosh podcast that he’d lost alot of the players and staff. Simpson said he was a crap man manager as well. Imagine theres some truth to the Vardy, Kasper, Morgan meeting

If I refused to work, I'd be sacked. Footballers are in their own bubble. Paid too much and have baby mentality when things don't go their way. 

 

This is pathetic and he'd had been better not to say anything at all as he's ruined his reputation. 

 

Honestly sometimes footballers do my nut.

He should've shown more respect to the club and jersey. We took a journey man from the championship to a PL champion, and he thinks he's done us a favourite by coming into work.

I've heard it from one of the title winners, that I promised never to name, that he was by far the best man-manager and motivator he'd ever known, but a lousy, lousy tactician who struggled to communicate ideas. He depended hugely on Shakespeare to 'interpret' often baffling instructions. It surprised me at the time because the narrative was always that he, not Pearson, was the tactician.

 

That conversation ended up being a very detailed breakdown - of tactical changes with no prior preparation hours before kick off, of him becoming gradually more insistent on ideas that had been previously negotiable - which I had no reason to question too much, given what I'd seen.

 

I have no first hand knowledge of the meetings that took place before Claudio was fired, but I'm pretty sure the Vardy-Kasper-Morgan thing was debunked years ago by those players, other players, and Ranieri himself. I imagine concerns were mentioned, rather than raised as points of contention.

 

In the end the results spoke for themselves, in that reigning champions can't be 17th in the table in February, and in that impulse signings made in the post-Walsh vacuum hadn't worked out, and he was fired. Rightly, it turns out, regardless of how much I love him.

 

Leo Ulloa, though, is someone else I respect greatly, and whose place in history will always exclusively be his role in that team. What a shame that he's shown he was one of the reasons, along with Mahrez, for our post-title decline. Have a little pride in what you will always stand for, and some humility that that achievement is pretty much the limit of your meaningfulness in the game. Show some class.

all seems a bit odd this. I know at some point the club were incredibly supportive of Ulloa - and allowed him compassionate leave to deal with a very serious family matter which was ongoing for some time.

 

I can't recall the exact chronology of events though - maybe this all kicked off after his family emergency?

Makes sense too. Preserve as much of the fairytale as possible.
