just as long throws came back into fashion, you wonder if players on both posts will do the same. I think it got binned when it became apparent that those on the posts often kept the recipient of the near post flick on onside . Someone will be doing the stats on what’s best.  I’d rather have someone decent in the air in front of the near post melee and both posts guarded

I have no problem with zonal marking and you can't get two more important zones than the goalposts.

Have we ever got to a Luke Thomas throw first? I'm not even being over dramatic, I literally can't remember us getting a head on one first - we must have!?!

LT long throws epitomises everything that's wrong, never works, and often puts us on the back foot with our players high up the pitch. Yet we rinse and repeat the failed tactic time and time again.

You can say the same of our corner takers, nearly always useless and more likely to set up the opposition on a counter than result in anything positive for us.

And it never changes. I'm sure we're the only team in all 4 leagues where our corners are actually a benefit to the opposition!

So true

when me and my boys are watching, we’re usually happy not to get a decision that brings us a corner. We’re far more likely to concede than score!

On LT long throws, I don't get why we play SO far back. Although he has a good arm, it only ever makes it to our first man, he never wins the header (think Vestergaard won one yday but it dropped at their feet), and we just lose the ball - with them having a counter attack on. Surely there should be a couple of options available.

The idea is fine but the execution is appalling.

Yeah Ben Nelson hit the woodwork from one in the Stoke game. Thomas then hit the post with a 2 yard header about 30 seconds later lol

There's been a fair few drop in and around the box as well.

How many times do we get a free kick in a good position, take ages to decide who’s taking it, think about tactics then it either goes straight into the keeper’s hands or it’s overhit and goes out for a goal kick.
Is it asking too much of a professional footballer to be able to put the ball on the right spot to give the attack something to go for. It seems every other team can do it so what’s the problem with us.

That goal today was one of the most shambolic I’ve ever seen us concede.

Woeful execution and then we just watch Swansea score. A team fighting would have put tackles in on that break or just somebody dive in and break it up and take a yellow. Anything but let them break the length of the pitch and score.

Truly awful passage of play and shows exactly why we are League One

I said weeks ago we were being shite on purpose.

It certainly seems like it sometimes.

He’s clearly terrible at his job. We look like conceding every time our opponents get an attacking set piece and we look like conceding every time we get an attacking set piece.

We conceded a goal from a counter by one of the worst tactics in football ie cramming your own penalty area at the set piece.

He should have been sacked months ago. In fact, just appoint any of us as a set piece coach. We really couldn’t do any worse.
