After International Break - Clueless as ever?

Anyone else noticed the pattern of looking like we've done absolutely nothing to address the issues on the pitch after an international break? 

 

You'd think the club would be working around the clock to address our frailties, but we often look even more inept than before!

 

Hope I'm wrong this time and Rowett has devised a cunning plan?

Literally says “weekend in Lisbon” you know the time of the week the rest of us get off work? We don’t train at weekends do we, we either play a game or have a number of players on international duty. 
 

They'll have been in during the week before as normal and likely back in tomorrow before the rest of those who are away filter back from Wednesday onwards.

He's not a binman, a postie or a plumber. He's on millions a year with the aim of ensuring we don't get relegated in 8 weeks time.

 

I'd fully expect him to be working until he's achieved that aim. He's just come off a 2 month break don't forget.

What would you like him to be doing on a Saturday and Sunday with no game on and quite a lot of players on international duty? 
 

Personally I’d like him to be refreshed and feeling up to the massive task that is the next two games and ready to smash this week with all the players back in training. 
 

Also he’s not earning millions as a “rescue” manager off the back of an Oxford sacking

You're entirely wrong. I think you need understand the guy is human. Also, what exactly do you think a manager needs to be doing 24/7? Your post is bonkers, honestly.

I think a man with his responsibilities and pay should be able to go 1 month and a half without sunning himself. Especially when he's in charge of a team that is massively underperforming.

 

He's not some admin-level office worker that should just clock off at 5pm and forget about work when he's not there. He's taken a job with the remit of keeping us in this division and he should be spending every hour he can to ensure we do so.

 

We've got very few players away with their countries. I'd expect them to have been working hard this last week. The big holiday comes when we're sure we're not going down.

 

Taking time off when he's had very little time on the training ground and we've got arguably our two biggest games since our relegation in 2022/23 and he's just come off the back of 8 weeks between jobs is ridiculous to be honest and wouldn't be accepted at a serious club.

Well I know you're most probably taking the p*ss and I didn't know he'd gone off on holiday before posting this topic by the way.

 

If he has took a holiday because his contract allows him or entitlement and he's then on top of that posting it openly on socials then it tells me two things:

 

- He's not aware that this will come across bad

 

-the club are not aware this will come across bad. 

 

Both sums up either way.

Its not hard is it? Its 4-2-1-3, uber defensive with Ayew up front. No need to train for that - all comes naturally.

 

Joking aside - there is nothing to say they hadn't been working hard last week is there?

At the very least, the optics aren’t great.

 

He had a lengthy break before joining and once the season ends in about 8 weeks, he’ll have a good couple of months before Aiyawatt/Rudkin remember to let him know if he will be managing the team next season or not.

 

They might not be on the training ground but there’s footage to watch and planning to do. Even if Rowett takes it deadly seriously, we know the players see being here as a holiday camp so in Rowett’s position, honestly this is the last thing I’d have done even if just for the optics and to set an example to the players that the hard work doesn’t end until we dig ourselves out of this mess.
