IF we could beat Portsmouth it could be worth more than the 3 points as it would leave them deflated as we were after Sheff Weds, feeling “If we can’t beat them where are any wins coming from.”

But you can’t really think about psychological gains when the psychology of our own mob is so much in tatters it would need an army of therapists to untangle.

As a club we can be quite capable of watching others drop points, it’s the “Put your boots on, take to the pitch and earn points of your own” bit we struggle with and we’ll need points of our own.

Just heard from my friend who kind of knows someone high up at the club. I've mentioned who it is before but won't here.

Anyway, he saw this person again recently and told me he was quite surprised how frank he was being at the current situation. Bullet points from what he was saying -

Pretty much everyone at the club has given up and accepted relegation.

The players 'quite like' Rowett but they know he's only here short term so aren't really paying attention to what he says.

A lot of them have already checked out and are thinking of their next clubs. They aren't even interested in trying to keep us up.

The players coming through in the under 18s are even worse. "Spoilt brats" was the phrase.

I know this is info that we've all pretty much worked out for ourselves but there it is, from the mouth of someone high up.

It seems the only people clinging on to some sort of hope are a section of the fans.

Oddly specific, and it's not a bet if it's your hobby anyway.  :P

Will 3 wins save us? Would 2 wins and a 2 draws save us?

What do we need, if we have no hope what is the point? Positive replies welcome, sarcasm not tolerated.

We are not down until the R is by out name. I belive if we beat pompey we could take this to the last day, get within 3 of rovers and I would take that going into the last game knowing a win would leapfrog them, and hopefully another.

Just curious, how are you planning to not tolerate sarcasm? A strongly-worded letter to the editor?

Doesn’t mean they are all spoilt brats though. Seems more like a sweeping generalisation.

Does sound a bit like a sweeping statement.

I went to the training ground earlier this year to do some work with U21's and they were all absolutely lovely and very respectful. obviously i only saw a snippet, but I remember coming away thinking what a nice group.

The reasons to be hopeful aren’t really there as far as the next 3 games are concerned. The future beyond that though…absolutely. The club will eventually recover from this, today’s villains will soon be gone and KP will follow at some point.

Yes we are going to have to endure more pain before it gets better, but it will get better. I’ve been watching this club and following football too long to think otherwise.

We're done.

However, I wouldn't put it past us to get ourselves into a position where we can finish safely on the final game of the season, just to **** it up anyway.

I'd trust our players to do that as a parting gift.  100%.

Not beating Wednesday, was the end of me. Though as soon as we threw away 3-0 against Southampton I think it was nailed on.

That said stranger thing have happened supporting this club than winning 3 championship games. But it’s not happening.

Does anyone think this club is eyeing up managerial targets? Potential new signings? Or have any form of plan for next season regardless of the league they are in?  Id say that’s a massive No because short sightedness is what’s caught this club cold for a few years now.

The delusion of the owner, the lack of forward thinking by Rudkin and the poor scouting continues to be a recipe for disaster and will continue into next season.

The club is a toy for the owner, one that is very much broken, and judging by his lack of interest in showing up to games, he’s bored of it and doesn’t care about fixing it.

There is no hope, the players are working their notice period in most cases, I haven’t seen enough of any of the younger lads to suggest they would hold their own in either league, Monga perhaps, maybe Braybrooke, they will need some tough experienced heads around them, and given that we sign on average 1 decent player in every 10 signings, it’s going to be a league 2 status before the decade is out unless significant changes are made off the field.

Shortly before relegation in 2008 there was a thread called "Who Believes That We Will Stay Up", and some people signed up to say the Foxes Never Quit and they thought we could still stay up.

Others, however, weren't so optimistic.

It was pointed out that our team was full of overpaid wasters who didn't play as a team and weren't fit to wear the same badge that had been worn by the previous golden generation, and so, no, we were doomed.

I mean this post, you could change a few names and it would pretty much fit what people are saying now (except the bit about England):

exactly. those who have been around long enough have seen it all before.

In the four seasons after relegation from the Premier League in 2004 we finished 15th, 16th, 19th before 22nd and relegation to League 1.

The only difference with this lot is they may wrap up relegation to L1 in one season. But even if they do stay up, I think next season will be more of the same.

Did anybody hear our beloved goal keeper comment on RL about the plight that LCFC are in.

He remarked that everybody in the team are all in for the fight and are determined to improve the situation.

That there is togetherness in the squad and that they know they can improve.

I have never heard so much twoddle in my life. Do they think no one watches any of the matches.

We have won 17 out of the last 80 league games played,  a win percentage of 21%, winning any of the last games must be a stretch even for the most optimistic fan

The goalkeeper is one of the more junior players. He didn't come here with a huge transfer fee and a massive monthly wage.

Why did the 'senior' players not feel the need to face the media - have a pop at them instead.

Not a pop at JS but it's all of the players and all of the same, generic posts that have been churned out by the clubs social media and content teams since the end of last year.

'All in for the fight', 'need to improve', 'back to the drawing board', 'we all need to focus and regroup' etc etc.

They don't mean anything anymore and they're just paying lip service now.
