When relegation was confirmed, I was fairly indifferent but now I’m finding that I’m getting angrier by the day.

After the title win I thought that we’d become an established mid-table Prem team, not flirting with relegation but occasionally flirting with Thursday European Cup football. That is what we should’ve been. No fan expectations as I’m fairly sure that we all know that the title was a one-off that wouldn’t happen again.

What an absolute ****-up this club has made of that!

The only thing I have left is to hope that Spuds get relegated 🤣

Anyone else becoming increasingly concerned that we are just going to redo this season in League One?

Top has basically just shrugged his shoulders and flew back home leaving Rudkin to carry on business as usual.

We all now know these people have a talent for learning zero lessons from prior failures and that leads me to believe we won't see any youth or any kind of refresh next season either.

I fear they are still rabbits in the headlight terrified of not coming straight back up (exactly as they were this season) and will for that reason only trust senior players that have played at EPL or Championship level previously just as they did this season.

The only players of that type we will have left will be those that are on wages so high we can't give them away and free transfer 30 somethings along the lines of Ayew & Bobby.

If that is the case i think the odds are 10% we fluke our way back up with another Enzo-style stroke of luck, 40% we finish mid-table, and 50% we get relegated to League Two.

It's certainly a big possibility.

Can we find buyers for these for a fee the club will accept (historically No!) I can't see how we can afford to keep more than a couple on, hopefully relegated wages

The problem is finding clubs willing to pay this lot similar wages to what we have been paying. Obviously some will be willing to take a lower wage in return for a longer contract, but how many will just think f**k it and just sit back and take the money for a year.

Thats the problem and the block to any progress right there.

It's looking grim. We'll be saddled with at least half of them. Sulking all the way to the bank.

I'd be amazed if we actually had League One relegation clauses in place to be honest. It didn't even occur to them as a possibility, just like the EPL relegation.

There was a thread about when our downfall started… the day we lost that pre-season friendly on penalties to Burton was the moment 😂

Only 5 times have a professional football team managed back to back relegations. Never has any club managed a triple drop straight off but with this club might just crack it.

There was speculation in the punter corner that clubs often have wages clauses if relegated but that no one would have the foresight to spec in a double relegation. So LC will be stuck paying high wages to players that either no one wants or they are happy just going through the motions whilst seeing out their time on high wages. Its a Danny Ward someone somehow gave me an extension scenario on steroids.

It depends if it’s a specified relegation such as premier league to Championship is X % and Championship to league one is Y %. It could be that there is a general relegation clause with a specified % each time.

I think you may mean 5 from the Prem to then drop again the next season

I want to beat Blackburn so that the reason we are relegated is because of the point deduction and therefore fully the clubs own fault.

To be fair, it’s the clubs fault either way and nobody in the right mind can find another explanation. Either it’s their fault for breaking the rules and having the points deduction or it’s their fault for signing awful players with crap attitudes and incompetent managers time after time. Take your pick as to which….

I’m thinking it’s better we get hammered by Blackburn for maximum humiliation. We saw last season that picking up some points after an early relegation did us no good as they just assumed we’d dominate the league again and they didn’t need to invest in the squad (even using the loan market wisely if funds were restricted). Maximum humiliation is most likely to force change if anything is going to.
