If our Retirement Team are scouting Lyndon Dykes, they need binning off with Dufkin.  Absolute shocker.

What the Ffff do they do all day?  This sums up perfectly just how bad this Club is being run.

if we genuinely go for Dykes over the likes of Sidibeh and Dom Ballard then there's no coming back for us, i have no clue what our scouts do at this point

Jack Marriott would be a great signing IMO. 78 G+A in 10k minutes (works out to be around 115 lots of 90 minutes) at league one level.

Just had a very productive season for an average Reading side (scoring or assisting in 15 of his 20 starts).

Best bit about him is that he works his absolute arse off. He'd be a fan favourite here.

Worst bit is that he's got an iffy hamstring and he's in his 30s.

If we can’t afford Tolaj or Ballard, then Marriott and Wareham are the two I’d probably be looking at on permanent deals, but I’m intrigued about Keillor-Dunn’s situation at Wrexham, hasn’t featured much since signing for them, if they are willing to loan him out, then he’s a no-brainer for me.

Not hard is it.

There appears to be no vision.

This is what I would do:

History of getting 15+ at this level: With the turmoil which Southampton are in,  go get Ross Stewart, who is out of contract - Sell him the dream of making him our main man, up top.24 goals last time he was in league 1.

Back-up should be someone in their early 20’s with potential: Loan market is good for this. Lots of young prem strikers from Prem League 2 to be had. OR (and bear with me...) Mamadou Doumbia on loan from Watford could be an option. I have a feeling we're going to get lumbered with Woyo Coulibaly the Mali international as our right back. To help him finally settle, what better way than to have his friend play for us up top! I think both wiil/would do well at this league 1 level.

I just can’t see Ross Stewart dropping down to League 1 tbh, far too good for that level. As said above, I think the likes of Wareham, Marriott are more realistic.

As for a younger back-up, exactly that, a loan from Premier League or Championship, or you look at leagues like Scotland, Scandinavia or even League 2 for a permanent deal, Josh Stones at York City for example has been getting good reviews.

It's just a rehash of an old rumour, Dykes, isn't it. Typical lazy journalism. We won't be in for players without a manager in place.

We’ve got to surely make a statement and get either Tolaj or Ballard! I don’t trust glover to find any hidden talent out of them leaves unfortunately even know there’s so many.

ideally how many players do you think we need to sign ?

it’s still so very early but no manager yet, not even concrete links to any either.

id imagine we will sell -

Fatawu

Winks

Vestergaard

Okoli

Mavididi

Skipp ( maybe )

whoever the new manager is has got an absolute massive job on his hands but you’d of thought plenty will want it as he will get to completely rebuild a team he wants.

I just wouldn’t be surprised if they both get picked off by Championship teams, that’s why I mentioned Keillor-Dunn, if we could get him on loan, he’s probably the best option behind Ballard and Tolaj imo.

In terms of incomings, most definitely double figures worth. Five of which will probably be loans, a bunch of freebies, and hopefully a couple of signings under £1 million.

1 GK

RB? - Depends how we view Choudhury

2-4 CB’s - Depends if any of Vestergaard, Nelson and Souttar stay

1 LB

2-3 CM’s - Depends if Skipp stays

1 CAM

2-3 WG’s

2 ST

Really hope we use some of the academy players to fill the squad. Not advocating for an XI of 18 year olds, but some of these are surely good enough to be squad players in L1.

Stolarczyk / Vieites / Bausor

Aluko / Joseph

New CB / Gray

Nelson /  Wilson-Brown

Thomas / New LB

BDCR / Briggs

Skipp / Braybrooke

Page / Cartwright

New RW / S Thomas

Alves / New LW

New ST / Evans / Hutchinson

I’d probably be looking at something like this

GK - Stolarczyk, Begovic/New GK, Vieites/Bausor

RB - Choudhury, Aluko

CB - Nelson/New CB, Souttar/New CB, New CB, Gray

LB - Thomas, New LB

CM - Skipp/New CM, New CM, Braybrooke, Page

AM - BDCR, New AM

RM - New RM, S.Thomas

LM - New LM, Alves

ST - New ST, New ST, Evans

A couple of other youngsters may get minutes in cup matches, but can’t see them being regular features in the league just yet.

Most important things for me is getting our leadership group right, and getting in a few younger signings that will give us good resale value.

I'd back him the moment he puts on a Leicester shirt, but just magine if we sign Lyndon Dykes and Sheffield Wednesday sign Jamie Vardy.

It would be absolute bedlam on here.

If Dykes turns out to be true, we are going to be out of the Championship for longer than I already thought...

Would the Dykes link be softer on the ear if it was said he would be brought in to play the Shinji type role, hurry and hassle as opposed to be the new #9 out and out striker?
All fans of his other clubs & for Scotland say that that’s his bread and butter not the 15-20 goal type, but it’s his nastiness and effort, isn’t that what we also miss?

Maybe even be support / protect Evans who could lead the line Shinji/Vardy style?

Yes it brings a wee bit of 🤢 to the mouth if he’s linked to lead the line himself mind but as that menace to chase the lost cause, harry a defence & keeper and just get in the way & not be bullied (especially in L1) on a free would it be easier to accept?

Plus not sure he’s a Russell’s type player so every cloud better of 2 evils  :dunno:

We are being linked with everyone but we can’t even sign a manager. Ruskin and Top at their very best.

Seems we have to wait until mid June when all the stars align or something weird like that.

But I still think they're on that cruise.

Are the players we've been linked with in the room with us?
