Darling would be a very good replacement for Faes or Okoli. If and when Nelson goes I want a young player for a low fee who we can see real potential in adding value, Finley Burns would be a like for like replacement and cost a million or so.

Ric I want a 6”4 young Nordic young CB from someone I’ve never heard of! 😆

A benkovic type ( hopefully without the injury record)

I didn’t disagree with you, but who? If we’re not paying fees for anyone we’re restricted to loans and free’s.

Not sure must be some decent players in the prem and championship who won't be regulars who we could target rather than risking the season on an injured player

Erm it actually is, Page and Braybrooke are 8s Braybrooke can also play the 6 and Alves is a 10 or winger

I wouldn’t classify Page and Braybrooke as both being in the same bracket in terms of both being 8’s.

Page is more box to box naturally while Braybrooke is more a 6.

Youre right Alves is an attacking midfielder.

Cullen is more a second striker, left footed winger or false 9 type so even if he does play in similar positions to Alves, he’s a different type of a player.

But yeah Cullen should not restrict minutes for Braybrooke or Page….more Evans, Carr and Otchere really.

You point out that Cullen can play as a left footed winger, well, how about this, could he actually (!) play as a LEFT winger (I know, radical, hey!)? In other words, could he be a replacement for a departing Mavididi?!

Again if this was the case would it not be logical to, well, you know…. Buy a left winger lol the amount of times we’ve fell into the trap of buying a player that plays in a certain position but can also “do a job” in the position we need is mind blowing… just buy someone who is a natural in said position🤦🏼‍♂️

Honestly people who are defending this transfer have short memories!

As you say mind blowing.

I'm not a moaner, I've been pretty happy so far this off season with our business.

You have to admit out transfer business has been pretty poor since 21/22 onwards.

just got to be on the right sort, like we brought Winks for 10mil.....seemed good on the surface but his attitude stunk the place out

Does everyone realise the position we are in? Is he the “crapper brother” yes.

Harry Souttar is a low end premier league, high end championship centre back within the right team. John Souttar is a mid to low end championship defender, which in league one is a very good player.

Let’s look into this further, he’s played high level European football for the past 3 seasons. Which if this was a foreign lad we would say alone for that reason is a coup for league one.

Then let’s look at him individually, across the past 5 seasons he’s averaged a rating of 7.25 albeit in the Scottish premier league but still a very high consistent score. Then from a passing statistic he scores in the 90 percentile for successful passes and 91 percentile for passing percentage across the past 3 seasons.

Finally, he’s shared the vice-captaincy with Jack Butland the past few seasons which shows the leadership qualities box being ticked also.

The negativity and unrealistic expectations from so many on this forum is killing me currently lol is he better than Harry, no. Would he be a very good league one player, yes. Perspective.

But we need to be signing the best youth talents that world football has to offer so that we can resell them for 10s of millions and with the pennies we have to spend our scouting department should easily be able to identify 3 or 4 top quality prospects that will be head and shoulders above everyone in league 1 that we can then sell to a premier league team for 100x our investment… god what are the scouts even doing?

I just don’t get why we are signing decent professionals who have good characteristics to help out around the squad and set a good example for our own youth prospects, it’s infuriating and makes no sense. Why aren’t Man City, United etc giving us their highest rated youngsters for the same price that we could sign a John Souttar or Liam Cullen for?

How often have you watched him play?

Great comeback to something you don’t have the answer to. Realistically regardless of what I answer your response is very predictable and forcing negativity for the sake of it. If I say a lot, you’ll say “of course you have”, if I say not a lot, you’ll say “there you go”.

But since you asked I have actually watched him a fair bit. I often tune into Rangers and Celtic especially with the earlier kick off times and I also enjoy watching British teams play in Europe regardless if it’s Champions league, Europa league or conference league.

I am a football nerd who loves finding out about new players and analysing different styles of play.

Let me guess I’m talking shit right?
