Ric Flair was saying on the BSLB’s pod that in League 1 the same financial restrictions don’t apply around book value etc. so it provides a real opportunity to drain the swamp even at a loss so I can only think they are asking for these prices purely out of the fact they overpaid for them in the first place and are trying to save some face.

Classic case of Pride before a fall.

the sensible negotiaton for Mavididi would be £3-4m + performance and promotion related bonuses that take it up to the £7m mark. As for Skipp I think a sensible option is a loan with an obligation to buy for £15m should they secure promotion. Job done will create wage budget to bring in new players and remove players with the stench of a double relegation from the club.

£12m for Skipp is outrageous, surely we’re not asking for that.

£6m isn’t too far off for Mavididi though, you’d think a club would at least get close to that.

Probably has around 15m amortisation left on the books, we need a decent fee.

The leagues sustainability rules it one thing.

But cash flow is another, we may still need to bring in money to pay the bills.

I think thats probably what happens closer to the close of the window.

RM suggesting we could see 3 or 4 more recruits before the end of the window with potentially a CB by the Ipswich game.

Would assume the CB would be big brother John 🤷‍♂️

You know it'll be an aging player for 'experience' so welcome Dawson

You just know it is going to be "experienced" players as well

Probably going to spend money on at least one as well when it should be on a younger player

I would like to say not a chance they sign a 36yr old who hasn’t played a minute since the end of the 24/25 season but..

Nah can’t see it, if we/RM linked to John S then it’ll be John S, RM would have went in to the boardroom at 18:00hrs Saturday and said just pay them I need a CB.

He has said the CB position would be a permanent signing thou

Like Chansiri this saving face is born out of stupidity. You absolutely need to be realistic with what you asking for before it’s too late, we are desperate for investment within capable players in this league.

We’ve been here before turning down bids for the only clubs willing to buy them, waiting for a higher bid that will never been forthcoming.

It can get worse, we won’t promote,  unless we invest in this squad and this may mean taking a lose on players that need to as far away from the club as possible.

Top won’t be saving any face when it eventually comes crashing down.

They have to be good player first and foremost, whilst wanting to be here.

I don't mind a old pro at CB as long as they are a good player and leader.

Not sure we will be spend much.

This next week is do or die, if we come out with a decent experience cb and a good youngster, another striker and a cdm that is athletic and can pass and we are good, if we end up with a string of Cullen/Chaplin type experienced pro signings I will worry
