by such logic then we shouldnt have signed Vardy from Fleetwood

But I would say that is completely different. Vards was a high performer in every lower league he's been in and we took a gamble and Fleetwood didn't want to sell

This is a player that is dropping down to league 1 because he's not getting game time or Wrexham are happy to sell as he's not in their plans going forward. That is the difference.

I'll always have a soft spot for Matty James even if he'll get injured the second he looks at seagrave

Especially as he’s not had an injury in his time there lol

is it tho....

by such defining logic tho doesnt matter if they are playing or not, we've signed players from man city etc(bigger teams) and theyve been crap. (we got riley carr from hertford town etc)

just because they are from say "wrexham" and not getting game time doesnt mean they are crap etc

so saying we've fallen off cos we are looking at players who arent playing for wrexham is a bit snobish imo

Would be pleased with either Dobson and/or James but desperate for a striker link, we are a Bristvic injury away from BDR being our main striker.

35 year old Matty James 😆

surely a tenuous link

4 year contract and book him the bed by the door in the medical wing

Matty James should be no where near the building other than popping back for a visit.

Rarely do swap deal happen, I think this is from the Wrexham end as they don't want to pay the full price and want to chuck in a player.

Push for the full price, then chuck the money at another striker and the lad from Barnsley and a CB.

Matty James is exactly the sort of person we need around Page and Braybrooke. I don't believe this story for a second, but if we could get rid of the example of Hamza Choudhury and replace him with Matty James then that would be a huge step in the right direction.

Come on mate, he’s 35 years old.
You don’t have to be mid-30’s to offer up experience and set examples to younger players.

there must be other options available between 27-30 who offer the same if not better

Totally agree. We should not be doing anything like this.  You would hope our Recruitment Team have better options than referring to a page in Steve Walsh's historical player directory:dunno:    In any case out of all the on field areas. midfield is behind both attack and defense.

I must have read this sentence a couple of dozen times on this forum over the past few months. We all hate how far we’ve fallen, but at some point we’re going to have to accept that it’s happened & that if we want to get back up again we may have to sign some players we previously would never have considered.

This was said for the Cullen, Chaplin and Burns signings as well.

The only way we go up is playing Page and Braybrooke in midfield. George Dobson is just more deadwood.

A 27-30 year old is going to either end up eating into Page & Braybrooke’s playing time, or is going to be grumpy about not playing and impact morale. We did benefit from having those types of players, who can do a job if absolutely necessary, but are mainly there for their impact off the field, when we were last trying to turn the club around in League One and then later under Pearson in the Championship. Think Powell and Dickov in L1. Phillips, Hammond, GTF when we won the Championship. We don’t need players who could eat into the minutes of our genuine talent or get upset if they don’t. Matty James would be perfect.
