There is no commercial acumen at all. The only academy flip we’ve ever done is Sowah - which worked out really well. Instead we lose out more often than not like with Maswanhise, Iversen, Kipre etc.

 

We simply never sell these players for £500k here, £1m there. Dread to think what we spend on wages/fees acquiring Armani Richards/Rakihy/Popov long term only to neither use them at first team level or sell.

 

We have a leaky bucket and just keep filling it. Seagrave could sustain itself if we were just smarter, even discounting big academy sales.

Even a 100k here or there is better than nothing.

Not keen on extending Begović. Lascelles was simply a disaster.

Technically, Begovic will be the best keeper in the league. Whilst we want to bring through younger players, we don't want to have to rely on them.
