it's so blatantly an attempt to create more ad breaks.

gonna be pure shite when Sky and TNT want in on that and you've got a "hydration break" in Newcastle the Saturday before Christmas

Just for the record, the hydration break had totally come from FIFA and isn’t a request of the home nations or their broadcasting companies..

I won't forgive them for Pearl Harbour, though

Yes. So far. But it's exploitable and therefore will be exploited

Glad that game eventually lived up to its billing. First half was a bit tepid. Exciting 2nd half though. Enjoyable, and almost always is when Japan play.

Took its fair bloody time but that second half was proper entertaining.

I still reckon Japan are dark horses.

They used the Club World Cup last year as a testbed for this years World Cup, so that's where it comes from.

You’d just love a couple of Japanese players at Leicester wouldn’t you, baffling we haven’t used their market since Okazaki.

It seems like the Japanese team lack the physicality side, as otherwise they're quite organised and technical.

That's the problem, as much as it's a stereotype it's a true one - Japanese (east Asian players in general) work their bollocks off. Which is the absolute antithesis of our "philosophy" under Top and Rudkin.

We'll keep getting lazy "technical" players from shit French teams and cast-offs that even struggling Prem / Championship sides like Spurs and Southampton no longer want instead. And we'll head it all off by appointing Laszlo from What We Do In The Shadows to lead them into battle by passing it around at the back every week.

That was a good game between Netherlands and Japan, really took off in the second half after really dull first half. Would this group be considered the group of death?

Never liked Koeman since that foul against David Platt

This, and the David Beckham red vs Argentina and the two incidents in football I find myself thinking about the most.

The fact that he should have been sent off, then scored later on to stop us going to USA94 still grinds my gears now.
