we’re currently a league 1 team and in no position to get a more ambitious manager in. RM needs a complete rebuild himself so it’s just as risky for him. ( probably more )

Really great point, his last 2 seasons have been failures. Awful at Saints in the Prem and then managed to shit the bed at one of the biggest sides in Scotland. If he fails here then he's in the wilderness and very few (even less than now) will take a punt on him.

God help us with this d1ckhead in charge. This screams of a spoilt brat of a child saying daddy bought the club for me, and I will do what I want to do. He doesn't give a sh1t about anyone else's opinion's, or what the fans want to see. The sooner he sells the club and fvcks off the better. We will then be able to get rid of the ridiculous gold off OUR strip

I remember his Southampton side in the PL, where the GK and CB or full back gifted at least a goal a game through the playing it out in tight spaces stuff. Martin refused to change his philosophy and it continued week in week out, literally setting up to fail and c*** up, if this was Italy you’d be asking serious questions.

I was hoping we could at least have some fun next season becoming a swashbuckling dynamic side not yet more chuckle brothers stuff with Hamza spinning to face his own goal before he even receives the ball and inevitably playing it backwards and conceding 15-20 yards. Put the kids in and let them play not as robotic cogs but with instinct and passion.

Just the last 2?

Has he had a season that wasn't?

For league one and championship he’s a good appointment

Yep I’m having that - iv never seen hatred like it for a bloke that hasn’t even been appointed and I’m still not sure after reading a lot of posts what exactly he’s done wrong to us

I think unfortunately he is the scapegoat for all the frustration of the last few years

I personally hope he does well

His record in league one would suggest otherwise, only 1 decent season in the championship with relegated prem side.

Rangers stint showed how much of a shitshow were in for.

He can't setup a defensive unit which has been our achillies heel for 4 years now.

I always want our managers to do well but his record and data would suggest otherwise.

Glad I didn't renew my season ticket and have to watch sideways and backwards.

Challinor was the obvious choice but our ownership were too blinded to see it.

you call it scapegoat, we call it foreshadowing.

I just don't believe this statement. And neither does any club in the top 2 divisions looking for a manager.

The good news is, he has a track record in League One - he finished 19th (partial season) and 13th, so it’s clear he’s above this level.

I guess you could argue he’s never been relegated from the Championship, so maybe that’s not above his level.

Would I have chosen him for our current predicament, no, but also don’t really understand why he’s generally treated like the second coming of Dennis Wise on here. Bizarre.

I’ve come to the conclusion that if and when Martin is appointed I’ll just have to get behind him and the lads. What I’ve learnt over the years is what the fans want and what the club want are 2 different things. If a player is crap you know he’ll be picked and if there is a manager that we don’t want you know will end up with him. Seems to be a Leicester thing

If he wants to get fans onside, and that'll be a task in itself, he HAS to bring through our young players.  Not just as part timers, but putting some of them front and centre.  Aluko and Page being the obvious pairing, given it looks like Monga is well gone.

Not forgetting the golden retriever puppy that is Skipp. Chasing where the ball left the foot not the direction of travel.  We can’t have another season of him on the edge of the box passing backwards at every opportunity.

At least we have a manager that will play to the players strengths. To me, to you defence and midfield along with wingers that for some reason are allergic to running into space, passing forwards and crossing quickly.

This deep possession/manoeuvring style of play only gets teams to the top of a league when a manager has one of the technically best squads in a division.

As has been the case with Pep previously, Enzo at LCFC and Martin himself at Saints in the Championship.

But....

- Will we have one of the technically best squads in L1 (together with a high level of player motivation, as Enzo did)? That's far from clear yet. Does that mean Top is going to bring such players in?

- Even if we did go straight back up, would we then be financially able to upgrade that squad to, at least, start building success at Championship level?

If Martin is confirmed as manager, it's going to be very interesting what sort of squad is assembled....

Guess we haven't hit rock bottom.  Our fault for having some faith left.

We hit rock bottom a while back.  Unfortunately we kept digging and continue to do so.

Gawd help us. 3 year deal as well !!!

Just when you think surely they have to make a right decision eventually they bring in this dip stick.

The only positive is that if we're not at least in the play off positions by December surely even this board will sack him.

I think the only positive here is we’ve actually appointed a manager before the season has started. But that is literally the only positive, Martin can get in the bin. First manager ever at Leicester that is going to have to win me over rather than being given the benefit of the doubt from the off.

Absolutely this.

He's got to talk sense from the off rather than the absolute shite I've heard him spout before and we need to see immediate positive actions.
