As I’ve already said, we won the title under maresca yet people still moaned about the style of play. Cooper, Ruud and Rowett were not managers of the same style. No one is kissing tops arse. Yes the majority of our fanbase are embarrassing.

I really don’t see the issue with people complaining about a style of play. 
 

Points matter, but the only reason any of us watch football or began to watch football when we were younger was because it’s an entertainment sport. 
 

I love Formula 1 because I find it really entertaining and I find the technical and science aspects interesting. 
 

Some people don’t like formula 1, I hate tennis, others love it. 

Football first and foremost is an entertainment sport, if people have the opinion that the style of play is less entertaining, they are entitled to voice their opinion. Many clubs up and down the country build an “identity” based on what the fans of that club want to see, very few clubs like Leicester impose a style on fans.

As much as I didn’t want the guy, the last few pages just prove how reactionary our fanbase like to be. As soon as we have a dodgy performance under him, some can’t wait to get the pitchforks out. 
 

Personally, even though we’ve got numerous players in and out of the door, the board at this moment in time are setting him up to fail.

 

We have no proper strikers, we have no CB’s with good ball-playing ability. 
 

Of course you hope that these two issues will be solved by the end of August, but in the meantime, there’s going to be numerous issues as he clearly has a number of players who are not equipped to play his style.

What's weird about this period is that because of the signings we've made it's like we've taken a step or two backwards compared to some pre-season performances where Martin worked with a fixed group of players for several weeks.

 

We've now had a few more outgoings and a few more coming in plus Souttar properly back from the World Cup and we need to give this changing squad time to get used to one another and form those relationships that looked quite tight among the young players.

 

Some will say, well just play the young lads then, but I guess it isn't quite as simple as that. The more experienced new signings need to get up to speed as they will be important as the season develops.

 

I'd like to see more of Page, Carr, Gray and Neale, for example. But at this point we need patience for the manager's methods to get through to the whole squad, which is still in the process of being shaped, and hopefully the youngsters get minutes as part of a coherent, balanced, winning squad.

 

The win yesterday will have given the players a boost. It's one thing looking good and getting some decent results in pre-season but it's another thing getting over the line when it matters. Hopefully there's another win next weekend and we build from there.

Correct. I for one would rather watch our prem title football than Enzo's championship title football.

 

I could stomach the sideways backwards if they added some quick breaks in it. Also it would mean the opposition would never really know what your next move was.

It’s not reactionary. People already know Russell Martin. He’s not some unknown entity.

 

It would be fickle for the people who hate him, and have said they don’t want anything to do with him, and have said even promotion won’t be enough to convince them he should stay on as manager in future seasons, to then say they are giving him a chance.

 

He’s the wrong man until he proves he can entertain the fans and get us back into the Premier League. Why should he get the benefit of the doubt after years of both he and our club being insufferable and hateful?

Performances like yesterday could well be the norm during his tenure, he could well turn out to be the wrong man. 
 

But how can he be judged this early, especially when he has no proper striker and has to rely on Okoli at CB. 

 

I’ll personally judge him when the transfer window closes, because there’s too many holes in this team that need rectifying first, before we get a full picture of a Russell Martin Leicester team.

You say he's the "wrong man" but what if he gets us promoted and we end up back in the PL within the next couple of seasons? Football is a results business, especially with the vast sums of money flying around, and quite honestly the best way for us to get out of this division is probably by playing a high possession based game. Every team is going to sit 11 men behind the ball against us because we're the club that everybody wants to beat and probably the best team in the division. You can't play a purely fast counter attacking style against teams that are going to set up in the way that 95% of the teams that we play this season will set up as even if we voluntarily surrendered the ball to them, their back line just isn't going to move up the pitch far enough. 

 

So unfortunately, you're going to have to watch us have 75% ish of the ball every single week and patiently try to create openings against teams that sit in a low block and that's just the way that it's going to be. It's going to be horrendous to watch at times and I'm not 100% on Martin either yet, but we should collectively at least give him a fair chance and perhaps give some kind of thought as to why we're going to be playing in this way rather than just complaining about every pass not going forward and every attack not being at 100mph.

Our possession numbers would be high this season regardless of manager. For me it's the intent on the ball. I saw scant evidence of it yesterday. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for a game but if that isn't fixed he will lose me, and everyone pretty quickly.

 

When I say lose me, I was never really on board in the first place, but he's here and there's no point pretending he won't be for a while.

 

If the signs are just endless possession for the sake of it, and giving away stupid goals, he will rightly lose people.

Feel for him a bit. For all his intent and getting tactics across, he has been preparing players for other clubs as they wont be here. So tactically starting preseason every week at min when new ones come in.
