I think America has now experienced an actual competition with the world involved, not like their fake 'world series'.

Watching videos of fans from Europe and the world take over America in their own way has been great to see.

I've only been watching football on the tele and it's been fantastic to fall in love with football again. Caught a serious case of World Cup fever and it's been so needed after years of misery following Leicester.

Nice to feel excited by goals again. Buzzing for tomorrow night.

Exactly how I feel. I started to question if I liked football anymore, but I have the bug back and watching all sorts of games.

As a fellow Celt, I find Scotland's obsession with England completely cringe. Their fans whole schtick in the US is based around 'arent we mad banter and great fans, not like those English'.

Not sure if posted anywhere but this boils my piss. I hope infantino and trump choke on eachothers schlongs before the final. The man baby wont leave the stage. Would love to see whoever wins it tell him to piss off. I almost want Iran to win it now lmfao.

Another example of how much this World Cup is embracing people. I made a post on a Kansas City forum saying I was coming, asked for advice and if anyone wanted to go for beers….. look at how much interaction it got. I’m honestly in shock. I’ve been offered, free drinks all night, asked to promote a hot sauce, offered merch, free tickets to local sport, a day out sailing and even to go shoot a gun. I’ve never felt so welcome lol

I promise I said nothing worth 114k views lmao

The actions of the fans and most of the general US populace aren't the reason that a lot of people have been down on this tournament.

in the old format there are some potentially interesting last group games.

Australia v Paraguay

Sweden v Japan

Ghana v Croatia

Austria v Algeria

But could all play out dull draws to make sure they both go through.

Apparently that last one could throw up some interesting scenarios. They're the last game to determine any potential 3rd-place finish, and it may depend on how much they lose by that depends on who they could play/avoid. Lose by enough and you avoid Spain and face a lesser/smaller nation...

Algeria might want revenge for 1982 as well .

Maybe with a bit of luck we will get to see him fall over and not get back up live on tv . I doubt there is many people who want him anywhere near it . Probably try to take it back to mar a lago as well

I know it's only 2 games in but on BBC's predictor it has England to play Cape Verde. Mexico to play Scotland.

Tie of the round would be Netherlands vs Morocco...

Choosing head-to-head over GD has made this last round of games a mess. Still plenty of intrigue but not as much as there could have been if they'd kept the 'old' format alongside the 3rd place qualifiers.

Apparently it was something UEFA have been pushing rather than FIFA themselves.

What i dont get is that the world cup is in 3 nations yet only he will be there? I hope canada and Mexico were invited and turned it down. Unlikely but ya.

Wonder if he will want to keep the trophy lol.

I don’t think there’s been as much talk or attention as there should be on the amazingly insane scenes in Mexico surrounding all of the matches being played there. It’s incredible.

[edit: besides the duck of course, everyone knows about that]

I have enjoyed it so far but I do find myself looking at the amount of games left and thinking ****ing hell, it's going to go on a fair bit lol

I wonder if tournament fatigue will become a factor, not just for us watching but for the players. Start getting bored of it.

Me too but only because of the poor quality teams that have reached this stage. Hopefully it should liven up a bit at the knockouts.

A Scottish mate is in Miami for tonight's game. I asked how much the drinks were: A pack of 4 beers, $70 in the fan zone
