Was thinking last night about how it doesn't feel like the World Cup has an identity. Feels like the Euros that was played all over the place in 2021.

Only the Mexico games have felt like there is actually a host nation.

I really don't like the 3 country WC. I've loved the football & obviously kick off times are very varied.

Spain/Portugal would work well, as would similar joint efforts.

Moving forward, we will get more of this type of WC tournament, unfortunately, especially when it expands to 64 teams. 'The Global Game'.

I suppose it doesn't help this World Cup that the average Canadian or American does not really care about football.

I think a Portugal and Spain World Cup would be fine.

Does Infantino get paid quite a bit or something just for unnecessarily showing his face on the big screen?...

Little known fact: Appearing on a JumboTron is the only way Gianni Infantino is able to achieve an erection.

Football is the most played sport in Canada.

Things have changed a lot over here compared to the 80s and 90s. The younger Canadians which are the majority of Canadians  either played it as children or have their children  playing it.  We have some ways to go to reach european levels of support but it's massive here now.

Considering our women's national team is very good, that has helped grow the game too!

I'm fine with a world cup split between nations where normally a nation would never be able to have it on their own. Spain, Morocco and Portugal all fit within Ontario alone so the distance for me is fine. Population wise , yes different story lol. That said, it gives more nations who citizens may not want or be able to travel to perhaps catch a game.

Spain and Portugal by themselves would’ve been amazing but Morocco clearly paid a massive wedge to be included.

Then again more than one Spanish city has actively said it doesn’t want to host games so maybe they had little choice but to include Morocco?

It will be a long time before we get a WC like 2006 again.

I didn't know that, but it hasn't helped that Canada have only hosted 3 knock out games.

Was listening to the Guardian podcast earlier and they were saying it’s rumoured pictures of him at games are pre-recorded and not shown live.

Apparently it’s because in the past he’d been shown live and was on his phone, which he apparently he quite frequently is. It’s weird he’s shown every time he’s there in about the 13th-15th minute and also never on the big screens at the games themselves.

It could be just a conspiracy theory, but crazier things have happened during this tournament.

Cape Verde drew against Spain and were level with Argentina after 90 minutes. Their results seem even more impressive now.

I had originally planned on boycotting this WC.

Kinda wishing I'd stuck to that.

I'll take a pass on the final.

I haven't watched any. I don't feel like I have missed anything.
