Wrexham consider move for Aussie defender 

 

Wrexham are weighing up a move for Australia defender Harry Souttar.

 

The 27-year-old was relegated with Leicester City last season so is open to a move back up with ambitious Wrexham, who with their Hollywood backers, are looking to push for promotion to the Premier League.

 

The 6ft 6in centre back missed most of last season with an Achilles injury but has battled back to fitness and featured in all three of Australia's group games at the World Cup.

What's the deal with Wrexham taking all of our old players...how many would that be now? Coady, Matty James, Lewis Brunt, Danny Ward, Callum Doyle (although he was a loan with us) and now possibly Souttar! Guess we're just a Wrexham feeder club now.

Decent move for him, if he’s going we need to get it done as soon as possible, nobody in their right mind is going to want Faes or Vestergaard so we sadly need at least one of Souttar or Nelson to be off the books quickly

I just think we would be better off getting what we can, and reinvesting in a younger player.

 

27 and he's played 159 league games, to many niggles and injuries.

Some players get over their long-term injuries and go on to have a good career.

 

He's definitely too good for League One and get the feeling he could be in that mould of player that, if fit, would help us dominate the division and do well again in the Championship.

 

But, I do understand the risks that come with his injury history. Plus we need all the Dosh we can get so understand if we decide to cash in now when he's about to play in a World Cup knockout game.

I actually think his ball playing ability is underrated, at this level as well he'd absolutely piss it. But his injury history, less than a year on his contract and his wages mean we will try and cash in on him. Think he'll go for about £3m.

Cash in. He's had his time and to be honest treated him quite poorly. Never shown we have really wanted him since Maresca arrived.

Souttar would have about £5m left. You seldom see swap deals anymore, quite possibly for this reason.
