I still believe he will go before the window closes, I think the club , Souttar and Russell know and expect this but it’s clear to see we ain’t going to be bullied into a cheap sale.

I think he will go before Notts County game and for our asking price.

It won’t be to Sheffield Utd—they won’t pay our asking price. Will West Ham pay £10m for him?

Think we will see two in two out re CBs between now and the window. Faes has the shittest agent on earth if he doesn’t get some sort of move and Souttar will go but on our terms. We will buy a decent CB and loan one in

No pace

I understand your comment, but......there's always a but...... some of the best center backs in the history of football had no pace,

And lets not forget, Wes Morgan and Robert Huth, not the quickest defenders by any stretch of your imagination, both have a Premier League title winners medal in their trophy cabinet.

I think one or two teams will pick up injuries or have a rude awakening this weekend and not necessarily panic buy but decide they need to act decisively ahead of the season kicking off in ernest

Thats 9.6m per second. Over 100m he would be UNDER a second slower than Usian Bolts record who's top speed ever recorded is 44km/h.

I think if and when Hamer leaves Sheffield United to re-sign for Cov, then they will use the additional budget to bring in Souttar

Probably depend how much they get, I think we are happy to let him go at the right price which appears to be 10m.

Which is a shame as I see him as the best centre half out of our useless lot!

100%

But I not sure we can turn down that sort of cash if it comes.

'He's happy' - Russell Martin sends Harry Souttar transfer message with Leicester City stance
Harry Souttar remains a Leicester City player and will captain the Foxes against Northampton Town on Saturday

Josh Holland Leicester City correspondent

Leicester City boss Russell Martin has insisted it would take an "awful lot of money" for the club to consider selling Harry Souttar this summer.

The defender has been the subject of strong transfer interest from Sheffield United this window, with the Blades falling short with opening bids. Souttar spent the first half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Bramall Lane and is well-liked in Sheffield.

Chris Wilder has twice commented on the Leicester defender, confirming the club's intention to sign him on a permanent basis. However, City have stood firm on their valuation for the Australian and Ben Nelson's ACL injury means the Foxes are light at centre-back.

Speaking on Friday, Martin reiterated his stance that he wants to keep Souttar at the club and said the defender remains happy at the King Power Stadium.

"I think any player in any club in the world is for sale at any point, if it’s for the right money," he told LeicestershireLive. "I can’t come out here and say ‘Harry is definitely not for sale’.

"If it was my choice, he wouldn’t be, even if someone came in with an astronomical amount of money, but I’m not the money man. So for me, he’ll be here. He’s happy to be here. He’s trained fantastically well.

"He’s everything I thought he would be in terms of a professional, honest, hard-working, vocal, puts his body on the line, even in training - he’s been amazing.

"I think it would take something very big for him to leave here, and if it was right for the club and for him, then it means that someone’s paid an awful lot of money to get the man that they want. Right now, it’s so far away from that, it’s not even a discussion.

"That’s why everyone can be quite calm about it, including Harry. He’s not come to me once and said he wants to leave. I think he’s very happy and he understands that playing this way can be really good for him. So as long as he’s happy, I’m happy and everyone’s happy, we’re good."

Martin also confirmed that Souttar will captain his side against Northampton Town tomorrow afternoon. He said: "Harry will captain the team tomorrow. He captains his country, he’s played at the World Cup. He’s been brilliant in pre-season since he’s been back, so he’ll captain the team tomorrow and then we’ll assess everything during the rest of the transfer window."

He added on the decision of a club captain: “We’ll have to wait until the end of the window. I did the same at Southampton, James Ward-Prowse captained the team in the first game and then didn’t play for us again.

"So I think we have to be open and flexible with it, but tomorrow, Harry will be captain, I think he deserves to be. He’s a real leader, and then we’ll assess it as and when it goes.

"If we feel it’s necessary to name a club captain at some point, we will. I don’t get too tied up in that stuff. He’ll captain the team tomorrow and then we’ll keep assessing it after that."

Wes Morgan had a top speed of 34.76mph too, it just took him forever to get up to it 😂

I have no issue with selling him as long as we sign someone who fits the system better. I’m terrified of having to watch him and Okoli all season.

We need to sell at least one CB, and I would prefer to sell Okoli, but I'm not sure how many ball playing CBs are available for league 1 as replacements?

It will be an unpopular opinion but I would play Faes over Okoli next week.

Do you trust the club to bring in better players than them with the money we'd receive?

Horror moment after 40 seconds, but he is a class defender.

We simply have to recruit at least one ball playing centre half.

A week before the season starts and we don't have a ball-playing CB which is vital to Russball. That's really concerning. The lack of a CF is also a major failure on the recruitment team who have had literally years to sort it.
