This is a real problem. 10m is stupid money for him - take that and run because we wont be getting that 6 months into L1. Dont rate him other than in a deep block - not what we need and wherever he goes he will be an injury ticking time bomb. Obvs Nelson injury complicates things further, but Russell really bigged Souttar up and gave him the captaincy for a reason. This wont go down well. Gray barely got a sniff in preseason. Starting him this game is a massive risk (Aluko vs Southampton levels of risk). He should have featured more, and think this one is going to come back to bite us. Okoli is terrible levels of sh1t, Faes cant step in the dressing room again, and know way are Leicester City signing 2 new fir and prepared (and good enough) center backs in the next day or so, ready for first team action. Jeeze, this is pretty terrible. Or it was all part of getting what we wanted from Sheff Utd? 3

Anything is possible, but Souttar could have injured himself Saturday. That was a big, big risk. How are we in the position where we have 1 actual center back we can play, and he is Caleb Okoli.

Wilder has been good for them but they are deteriorating their squad year on year and getting further bogged down as an average Championship club. But every time they try and move on from him they end up rooted to the bottom of the league and having to go back! Good business for us though. it’s a time when a few random world cup games has worked in our favour, for a change 1

I think we always had a price we were happy with and I expect we have targets we can move on pretty quickly. Think we have a perm and loan on the boil. We also have Faes depending on his personal situation and Gray or Aluko who has played as a CB for the 21s and 18s Squad was always going to be a dicey until the window closes, its a massive rebuild. Given how Ben injured himself that’s true but okoli and souttar did their level best to avoid any kind of contact with anyone. 4
RowlattsFox Posted 11 August Posted 11 August (edited) So which ex- Southampton player we signing to replace him? It will be someone from them, Swansea, Rangers or MK Dons anyway. Edited 11 August by RowlattsFox

No doubt we get linked with Smallbone any day know. Only reason i say that is we arent linked with any CBs other than old Souttar.
Popular Post Itsthejoeker Posted 11 August Popular Post Posted 11 August £10m for a player who's managed to stay fit/be good enough for 17 games in some of the worst teams I've ever seen? GERIM GONE 9

South Shire Fox Posted 11 August Posted 11 August (edited) Good price if its 10M plus add ons. Hopefully that will buy 3 good players with potential for this level. Atleast 2 need to be CBs Edited 11 August by South Shire Fox
tickler28 Posted 11 August Posted 11 August Stick Choudhury at Centre Back Saturday...he did well there before in the Championship 1 1
Finn Claw II Posted 11 August Posted 11 August (edited) Mavididi / big brother Souttar swap deal wouldn’t be a bad outcome Edited 11 August by Finn Claw II 1
CleudoG Posted 11 August Posted 11 August Think we have brother Souttar plus Malachi Hardy on loan as best case scenario

CleudoG Posted 11 August Posted 11 August Souttar senior the only likely permanent CB we also need at least one loan 1

coolhandfox Posted 11 August Posted 11 August We were already in the market for one CB with Nelson injured and TWB going. It become 2 with Souttar off as well.
dmayne7 Posted 11 August Posted 11 August Big fan but £10m+ at his age, injury record and us being in L1 would be incredible business. Unfortunately just means we'll spaff £4m on some plodder who can't cut it in the championship 2

Absolutely and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Manager and coaching staff have used training to ensure that alternatives are ready to step in to the starting XI on Saturday if required. However I don’t think it will be required as we will have a couple of deals ready to go once the Souttar deal was finalised. 1
