Similarly, just because you type that everyone on the forum disagrees with him, it doesn't make it true. Just that there seems little point in making balanced posts in this thread at the moment.

Thank you - as i said, i've only responded to posters who have something useful to add, and who actually take the time to read and understand the point i'm making (even if they don't necessarily agree with it).

 

FT is 95% morons, I took a break, but it feels like there's enough common sense here now to maintain a sensible discussion (even if one has to stepping stone over the mob).

I never said i was the 'only' one with common sense.  I simply said that my comments weren't pro-rudkin but pro-common sense - ie i looked at the facts and made i sensible comment based on facts rather than prejudice or following the mob.  If this puts me in the minority, i have no problem with that - in fact, it's a relief and no great surprise.

it's an accumulation of errors sure, but the buck stops with the most senior person with responsibilities in the areas of failure, just as it would in any other business. Like regardless of whether it was Rudkin, Glover, Cooper... who picked out Skipp, Grandpa Ayew and Bob the Nob as signings, it doesn't really matter. Either he directly valued that trio at 30m and several million in wages, or he signed off on the work of people who did. If your subordinates (and as the most senior football person at the club, they're all subordinates to him or one of his reports) are constantly making mistakes which are catastrophic for the business as a whole, then you're responsible for that. That's why director and c-suite level people get paid absolutely eye watering sums, it's compensation in line with the level of responsibility they are expected to shoulder. Directly or indirectly, Rudkin is responsible for the catastrophic decline in the footballing operations

I don’t think fees were the main issue at our club 

they reduce in their value at 20% per year 

 

the biggest problem was the wage structure and one person was responsible for that

It's amazing how many supposedly different threads have just become about who is to blame. It's almost as if resolving this question will somehow make a difference. If only we can point the finger at the right person/people, then everything will become better.

A couple of things first so you can’t play victim.

 

Firstly, I haven’t weighed in on this debate at all. And second, I am a poster who does tend to take time to post more lengthy balanced posted rather than purely being reactive as I’m sure my history would show (not to say frustrations can’t prompt a reaction on certain occasions).

 

But you expect to post something like 95% on this forum are morons then whinge when people have a pop at you? It’s insulting, generalising people who you know nothing about, unnecessary and childish. If you were actually interested in matured, balanced conversation, you wouldn’t be making daft comments like this.
