indierich06 Posted 10 August Posted 10 August We generally seem to sanction these kinds of moves when we have something sorted, transfer-wise, so maybe there will be some activity on CB front soon. Otchere went out on loan when it was clear Bristric was coming in? 1
Fox92 Posted 10 August Posted 10 August Was he any good at Swindon? They collapsed last season. Interesting he's joined a league rival, a side going for promotion again, but it's not the first time this has happened.
Popular Post Stadt Posted 10 August Popular Post Posted 10 August It should be inconceivable Wilson-Brown or Cartwright would finish above us but I'm starting to get uncomfortable 5
Cropwellfox Posted 10 August Posted 10 August Great move that. We should be in for Ethan Pye from them in return though.

He was decent for them - I believe usually played left of a back 3 Really struggled with injuries and fitness though - missed more league games than he played and was actually taken off at half time in 5 of his 19 starts 3
Foxes96 Posted 10 August Posted 10 August Pure profit!!! Pays for at least a weeks interest on the Macquarie loans 2
LCFCCKEANO Posted 10 August Posted 10 August Do we know the fee, and for that matter do we know what we got for Richards/Cartwright? If we are getting a couple million for the three it’s not awful, especially if they aren’t seen as being good enough. Stockport are in our division and direct competitors but where we need to be in 5 years or even 2 is very different to them 1

Thomas was a free agent so got nothing for him. Be lucky if we got £250k in total. Edited 10 August by Ian S 1

We'll soon have run out of assets to sell for undisclosed fees.

Absolutely no way we're getting anything close to a combined £2m for them. Would be absolutely staggered if we're getting £1m. Cartwright going to be the biggest and that's probably £250k-£500k (absolute max). Richards lucky to get 6 figures for and imagine Wilson-Brown would be £250k tops. Teams mainly rely on free transfers and loans. Signing a player for money is a bit of a luxury

Couple of million was more just a turn of phrase, would imagine it is a lot closer to a million. I’m not really upset about those three being let go of as I think it is better practice than holding them and releasing as we tend to do, more pissed off with Page/Motsi/Monga deals, but it is where we are now
Merchant_Banker Posted 10 August Posted 10 August 1 hour ago, Dan said: With our centre half situation this just seems so short sighted again. Like Cartwright he'd be a fine squad option who wouldn't cost us much in wages. Cartwright was bound to leave after scoring the goal that got Martin sacked. 😀

Signing a player for money is a bit of a luxury Stockport did spend £2m last summer, including £1m on a defender who only played a handful of games for Norwich. It's probably the more backed clubs but I'm pretty sure Stockport, Blackpool, Peterborough and Huddersfield all spent at least £1m last summer (and that's not taking into account the relegated teams as Luton spent a fair bit). 1

This rubbish of “interest payments costing us £200k a week” Yes, we’ve borrowed money, but we’ve borrowed it against money we were already receiving, and received less money than what we would have for the ability to use it now. It’s the difference between a credit card, and a cash advance. We’re not literally paying a weekly bill and we’ve also not taken on bad debt, we’ve not put the stadium up as collateral. It’s a bad cycle to be in and the club should be rightfully held to account for it, but Top and King Power are clearly not putting cash in, and with our operating expenses, we needed cash flow. We are not repaying a loan. We did this with transfer incomings, when United agreed to pay us over X years, and we needed the cash to fund replacements. It’s not bad debt, it’s just a sign that the club needs the cash. 2

Hate to say it but we might just need the cash and he’s simply seen as more expendable than others. We’re at a point where if selling him and loaning cover is cheaper we will do it. We’re treating the club for the short term…

Not sure mate but there’s a theme happening. Cant imagine we’ve suddenly assumed players like him and Cartwright aren’t good enough. Either the players are pushing or we are cash strapped and are taking what we can get. Cleaning the psr books for next season (if we manage promotion) could be part of making it seem more appealing for a sale. $500k on a youth player would be the same as selling a purchased player for a few mill with the way the psr calculations work out Edited 10 August by Lambert09

Both Cartwright and TWB had 1 year extension triggered to allow us to sell at a profit rather than walk away for free. 1

I don’t have an issue with this, as I have no doubt the coaching staff will have had an input based on preseason. 1
