I know he passes it of as his own opinion, but it's interesting that Tanner thinks that the proverbial straw was when Aiyawatt was confronted by the fans outside the stadium last season.

I wonder whether he's heard more than he's letting on here.

There's no doubt the pressure from fans played a massive part in this.

I think there was something really telling about that interaction that is often over looked. Top was asked by one of the disgruntled fans directly "will you put the money in to keep the club running?" he kind of shrunk his body, hesitated and said "I'll try..."

One of those body language experts who interpret presidents, celebrities and royalty would have had a field day!

One thing that Tanner missed out with regards to Tops interview in January was how uncomfortable Top looked when asked about whether he would sell the club. He also missed out part of his response which was that when he said he wasn’t interested in selling he then added “ maybe if a rich middle eastern person was interested “ so, I think back then he WAS entertaining the idea of selling, but only decided to go all out recently.

Which he is, he could quite easily not be replacing players taking every penny and playing youth as the clubs up for sale.

How do we know these are using his own money? The question was about Top continuing to invest - he may not be right now.

I’m saying we have seen disgruntled owners asset strip before selling a million times.
Considerable money is going on signings for the division we are in.
Just £11m has been spent across 24 teams and we have spent a high percentage of that amount.

It wasn't the word "try.." it was the body language surrounding it.

Anyway, seems to me Rukin is the one calling the shots and Top just trusts him and funds it all. I'm hoping the body language was impatience with Rudders rather than being completely financially ruined.

I think Top has always wanted the best for the club, hence why the protests (although not as vitriolic as at other clubs) have effected him, and motivated him to sell up.

The problem is, he has a very limited knowledge of football.

I disagree, I think KP are forcing the sale.

I’m in total agreement, just feel the people around him have badly advised him and he’s to soft to boot them out , Rudkin for a start

He is responsible for the people he hires.

I agree just feel he treats them more like mates than employees , it amazes me he sanctioned  these long term deals for players with little resale value without question it , i also think he’s just a nice guy who is very weak at making decisions and upsetting the people around him

Sort of goes without saying though surely?

But IMO, he never wanted to be the owner. He wanted to just be a billionaire's son, showing off to his rich mates, and that's fine - but it was his father's project, and he was thrust into a position he never wanted to be in in tragic circumstances.

It's become so evident that he wasn't ready for a position of authority in King Power or the club, given that he's basically been moved to a ceremonial role in the former because it too wasn't far away from going under until they appointed a proper CEO.

And when the going got tough here he couldn't face it. He disappeared and IMO was scared shitless and completely paralysed.

It's not his fault, but he's never the leader of a business...

If I remember there was an absolute badger who was suddenly the spokesperson for the crowd who asked a couple of putrid questions then started ass licking.

He's had ample opportunity to surround himself with quality people to run the club, people that have been there and done it.

Instead he has tried to do it himself, with observer levels of business knowledge -  whilst maintaining the same people around him who are failures. A good leader will put corrections in place before things start to go south, whether that's people, standards, culture change, infrastructure - he's done none of that. The only empathy I feel for him is because of Vichai, everything else is his own doing.
