I watched him a bit yesterday and he comes across to me as a ball-watcher. He’s not mentally engaged about where or how to best position himself; like one point where there was a long diagonal towards Thomas, he just watched the aerial challenge instead of dropping back into a covering position and adjusting his body shape to react. It was lazy and hesitant. As a result, he’s always having to react to situations instead of reading what opposing attackers are about to do or where the danger is.

Admittedly I don’t have the biggest sample size on him, but that’s what I felt.

They aren't really, Hibs fans think Kerr is absolutely garbage.

Hard to tell while they are in transition. I don’t think they’re any worse off given they were already shite under Gray.

I'm countering your initial point — they aren't "defending better" and Kerr is not rated at all. They've won 1 game in 6 since O'Hora left and that was against a side from two divisions below.

Yeah I know, and I went to 3 of those 6 games. Even against Partick we nearly threw it away playing nervous sloppy passes. But I think it’s more that gray lost his way and made some poor signings more than losing OHora.

But my point is that they aren't "defending better," irrespective of Gray. And Kerr is (or has been) dog muck.

I like that I made a throwaway comment and you’re sticking to my words like a dog with a bone 🤷‍♂️. Don’t care. End of the day, seems to be a poor signing so far. And Hibs are shite. That much we can agree on.

I just highlighted that you were wrong man, take it easy x

Asking CBs to be play markers and stick the whole back 4 on the half way line or in their half to have one ball stuck over the top is down to the manager.

Huth, Morgan, Fuch and Simpson weren't the best players in the league, they had a managet who understands their limitations and gave them a structure that worked.

Leaves too much space behind, hate a high line.

That's because prominent in their minds is 'what would Martin want me to do' rather than playing their natural game and that's why they are so slow to react to anything happening around them.

Yesterday felt really really high in the first half though. Like Martin had decided to double down on the tactic. Earlier in the season we had caught teams in the offside trap a lot, but yesterday we were getting caught in Peterborough’s half so even offside couldn’t help us.

Absolutely this. Souttar looked capable in the World Cup and he comes back here and the first thing he does is pass straight to a Northampton player. They’re second guessing themselves in order to carry out a bullshit philosophy.

Same against Oxford at home.

Crazy.

Like I say, they can't all be crap, It's Martin and his tactics

Exactly this. I had a debate in the souttar thread about this when ohora had his first game and people countered that ohora had looked good so souttar must be awful. It’s clear the system will make any defender look bad. Our shape is open. They will always be in vulnerable positions and they are asked to play risky balls no matter how bad the situation and pressure is.

It’s honestly a horror job for any defender and it will be constant hits to their confidence. It’s always got to be play when it’s on, if it’s not make the safe move. It’s not rocket science

I don’t want to compare myself to a professional but I am a cb but I also play cm a lot. When I’m a cm I’m very comfortable on the ball, I make a lot happen…. But when I’m in cb everything is ten times harder. The intensity to win the ball off you is normally amplified because people can smell blood if they win it in that area. It’s just a much harder job to do the same things without the safety net of another line of players with you.

Martin is shit at so many aspects of management. Signing bad former players is unfathomably stupid - O’Hora is crap on the ball, McCarthy is crap on the ball. Cullen isn’t in anyway a ball player.

If you tried to lose game I don’t think it could backfire as badly as this
