Martin said we'd appoint a permanent captain after the transfer window ended - who should get the role?

Souttar and Chaplin have worn the armband this season.

Chaplin had it over Souttar at MK Dons. So I’d imagine that’s the priority order. Be interesting to see if he names any other vice captains.

I do think Chaplin would make a good Captain, but with his injuries, and the position he plays leaving him more prone to rotation etc, then i think it would be better given to Souttar.

The defence will be built around Souttar and i can't see him getting left out of the 11 unless its a cup game or injury.

For me, your Captain needs to be on the pitch running things every week.

Chaplain was seen giving instructions to some of the player during a break in play so maybe has the ear of Russell

Depending on how much he's going to play, I would say Lundstam.

Would that assume he's playing instead of Braybrooke?

Hopefully playing alongside Braybrooke with page further forward but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

Don’t mind Souttar as captain, hopefully he’s made peace with the fact he’s not leaving and knuckles down now. Chaplin won’t stay fit long enough throughout the season.

Do we really want to give the armband to someone who has been here through all the crappy times over the last few years and seemingly wanted to leave numerous times, rather than Souttar I would personally give it to Lundstram or Chaplin (if Chaplin is going to be fit again this season) and then make Page/Braybrooke/O'Hora Vice

Agree Chaplin doesn’t seem to be able to stay fit. Was injured prior to the first game I think and now at MK.

Souttar or of the new guys, Lundstram or O’Hora makes more sense.

what a ridiculous comment.

Sammy pretty much first team on teamsheet.

I expect him to play in front of CDM with AN other.

That said he will need to be rested from time to time to keep him fresh

That's why I asked it I wasn't suggesting it

The reason I asked is because we don't really play with two out and out defensive midfielders more of a 4 1 4 1 formation.

I am not convinced Souttar is that happy to still be here and playing in League 1, but for that reason I would actually give him the Captain's armband, as it might give him that extra bit of motivation to settle down now and set an example for others.

Chaplin is a decent shout too, and I don't actually believe he will be a sick note type player as others are presuming, and so will play plenty of games for us. Either are good, but Souttar gets the nod from me.

I don't think it makes a blind bit of difference

Have you played in team sports? Who your captain is can make a big difference on and off the field, especially with a talented group of young players in the squad.

Doubt it. Russell loves Braybrooke so far (rightly so)

That mazy run down the wing on Tuesday and the way he was in the ref's ear after every shocking decision suggests he's made peace :D

The armband isn't the be all and end all. Players that show commitment, are vocal and don't run off down the tunnel after a defeat are all as important.
