If one is looking for schadenfreudic entertainment and cringe comedy at someone embarrassing themselves as opposed to anything that is in any way informative or accurate, yeah.

It's like 2000 Mules in that regard.

I thought 2000 mules was quite interesting, the actual sit-down with the experts and then going through the techniques people use and they've caught was really good, a lot of this shit gets overlooked but I imagine it's very common place.

It's interesting if considered as an elaborate method of crafting a fiction.

Unfortunately, it's designed to be considered as a direct argument for the US election in 2020 being fraudulent despite there being clear, convincing and categorical proof otherwise.

I have watched it.

Allow me to clarify: that methods exist to procure voter fraud and that those methods have been used in the past is salient, and it is interesting to see the methodology.

That those methods were used on a widespread scale to commit fraud in the 2020 US election to change the outcome as the film infers is a fiction based on no actual proof of those methods being used on such a scale whatsoever. And I take issue with those who believe it because such beliefs led to what was tantamount to a (thankfully poorly executed) coup attempt on January 6th 2021, in the name of a man who not only lost the election, but IMO was unfit to hold elected office all along.

Yeah I don't disagree with that (regarding the film anyway). I think Dinesh has been answering his critics in regards to the data to go along with the method which he said "is coming", if that is the case then he's shot the gun a bit for the sole purpose of the film.

But I did enjoy it, I genuinely thought it would be something good to laugh at, but the actual information regarding the methodology and you must think it must be so easy to do that on such lower scale elections, did genuinely get me thinking which I didn't particularly expect.

I think ultimately, though nobody is going into that film changing their mind on whether it was rigged or not, and I don't particularly have a hardlined stance so I'd have been pretty easy to flip in this regard.

Fair enough mate.

Pardon me for taking the whole thing rather seriously - I have a rather large stake in the matter for many different reasons.

Prey was ok. A little slow in the first half but a decent end.

It amazes me that people have criticised it for being "woke". Just because the main role is a native Indian woman?

... well, yeah. That's all most critics of "woke" need, a protagonist that doesn't fit the stereotype they want.

They aren’t smart enough to realize that the story would not have worked if it wasn’t a woman.  That doesn’t make it “woke”, it makes it great storytelling.

Predator in essence is was a complete masculine testerone fueled male fantasy so I can understand it, even if the film is good

That’s fine, but again the point is she survived because he underestimated her as a threat - if it was a male, the Predator would have easily slaughtered him.

Going to watch prey tonight, absolutely love predator, watched it last week in anticipation for this and it still holds up, along with aliens, as one of the truly great Sci Fi action movies of all time. Just a breathtaking film, if Prey is half as good I'll thoroughly enjoy it. Will report back later.

But maybe edit the post above my last one to have a spoiler tag!

It's a minor one though. She's the lead character, she's always going to survive.

Fixed it - didn’t realize it was spooning anything.  Sorry

The Innocents. Norwegian film made last year.

Absolutely captivating,  even though you wanted to avert your eyes from some of the more harrowing scenes.

A proper film. If you liked Lamb - this is on a different level.

Thirteen Lives

Ron Howard movie about the youth soccer team who were trapped inside a cave in Thailand

First half felt rushed and slow at the same time.

Once the rescue started, it got good.  I had no idea what hey had to do to get the kids out, so it made it even more enjoyable.

I thought it was superb. What an incredible story and clever (yet highly risky) way to rescue the boys.

Human resilience, hope, togetherness and creativity at its very best.

If you liked that watch The Rescue on Disney+ Goes into a lot more detail & uses real footage from the cave.

Vengeance

About a New Yorker who travels to Texas for the funeral of a woman he had a one night stand with.

Wasnt the comedy I was expecting it to be.  Thought it was just going to use the ridiculous plot to poke fun at small town Texas, and it wasnt.

Comedic at times.  Dead serious at other times.

Thought it was okay.  Not a waste of my time, but definitely not something I will watch again.

For the record - they are spot on with the portrayal of life in a small Texas town. The guns, police, Whataburger, the names.  Everything.

So, if you watch it and are curious - yes, that's what its like :)

Bullet Proof (2022)

About a thief who steals from a gangster (Vinnie Jones), and finds that the gangsters pregnant wife has stowed away in the getaway car.

Action, with some comedic lines thrown on.  I thought it was entertaining.  Not great.  Not worth paying to see, but perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Watched Ted K last night about the Unabomber.

Very well acted throughout and probably quite a realistic portrayal of the actual events. Well worth watching.
