Bit late to the party, but I finally watched Ready Player One.

I've read both books and have to say whilst the film was pretty good, the book was much better.

How is the second book? Read the first a few years back but heard nothing good about the sequel so gave it a miss

Personally I liked it.

Felt the ending was a little rushed but overall it was a good read.

Halloween Ends

Holy crap what a steaming pile of sh@t!

If you are curious how it ends, skip straight to the 1hr30min mark.  Nothing before that makes sense, or is even a Halloween movie.

It is streaming on Paramount

Completely agree.

The first film in this new trilogy was pretty good, the second one suffered from trilogy middle film non conclusion, but was passable, as long as the final film wrapped it all up…

so, the final film does nothing with the 2 films that came before it??? It’s bizarre. And completely flawed. Even as a stand alone film it’s nonsensical, but as the final part of a trilogy it barely references the previous films.

I won’t comment on the actual details as I don’t want to “spoil” it for anyone. But it was very disappointing and anything over 3/10 is being extremely generous.

That's a little harsh.  Jamie Lee Curtis is excellent in this movie.

As for Myers, they were criticised for making him indestructible in the second movie yet in this one he's being criticised for being weak.

I thought the twist at the end was quite clever and there are numerous references to the original as well as the previous two newer movies.

Better than the last one but not as good as 2018's is where this one sits for me overall.

Gonna tag this

Jamie Lee was great, for the twenty five odd minutes she was in it.

People are criticizing Michael being weak because it’s been 5 years.  We got stuck watching Corey or whatever his name was - plus, didn’t the last movie claim he got stronger by killing?
As for Corey - why?  Why did we need his story to dominate the FINAL Halloween movie?  Shouldn’t it have been about Laurie/Michael?

The daughter was a horrible character.  She somehow becomes obsessed with psycho to the point of abandoning her mom?  Makes no sense.

Finally.  Why in the hell does no one listen to Laurie - still?

If you enjoyed it, good for you.  Some people did.  Most did not.

Started watching The Boys, I’d heard mixed reviews but it’s brilliant.

Glass Onion, the sequel to Knives Out.

Had its premiere at the London Film Festival closing night last night which was beamed into selected cinemas.

Really, really good. Great ensemble cast with a huge host of cameos too. The story has more twists and turns than the first, though it should be easy to keep up. Daniel Craig brilliant again.

It'll be out in cinemas for a week next month then have a worldwide release on Netflix on December 23rd.

Looking forward to more!

I love Knives Out; it grew on me even more after I saw it originally, and I very much enjoyed it the first time.

It’s the first time in ages I actually fancy going to the cinema to watch something, particularly with it getting good reviews.

Does anyone do Odeon’s myLIMITLESS?

I looked at something similar years ago and the list of exclusions seemed to restrict you to afternoon films on a Tuesday in Lossiemouth provided said film was over 30 yrs old.

Yes I had it for several months this year. Cancelled it in September as there is nothing much until next year I really want to see.

You can go as much as you like any time of day for any film, if that's what you're worried about. There are no exclusions. And you can use it at any Odeon cinema. I've been to Tamworth and Derby ones with mine too.

Ta. I think you’ve answered it. I never thought to check releases.

I did hear that they are making a film version of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant (Disney no less) and that would be a curious production

Anyone seen Barbarian? Not the arbor film, a new Horror film. Looks decent, might check it out.

Well the new (last... ever?) Halloween was shocking. I really enjoyed Halloween Kills last year; I thought they nailed the feeling of the old films, the thrill of the absolute carnage as Michael Myers tears through an entire town and being utterly unstoppable.

(spoilers)

This time however they did practically none of that. They went from one of the highest body counts last movie to quite literally the lowest here. And introduced a new killer which didn't work at all.

Overall really, really dreadful
